LtLH was okay. LoTV has put me in an odd spot before where I couldn’t tick down but ticking her up meant I lost a card I wanted. This has happened quite a few times, so I elected not to run her. Nahiri and Chandra TOD are cards I want to test, but prior to the event I never ran them so I went with ol faithful. LtLH is always a solid choice and easy to side out.

Moon won me 3 of my matches straight up, and sadly I didn’t see it when I played against titanshift, which was one of my two losses.

I will continue playing Blood Moon as a 2 of, especially in open metas and large events, but if you’re local meta is resilient to it then I think some Arclight or Rabbles could be solid.

Hi all. I’m the Mardu player from Baltimore. I know 6th place isn’t the best standing, but I wanted to say the deck felt great all day.

I know Mardu has been on a downswing. Many people it see it as a bit too fair, or prefer GBx midrange decks.

I’m not trying to sway anyone into buying the deck nor am I here to convince anyone it’s the best midrange choice, but to those of you who are interested in playing the deck or currently playing it and thinking of putting it down, I just wanted to let you know that the deck is still good. Not just OK, or a meh choice, but actually good. This is of course my opinion, and I wouldn’t fault anyone for holding one that is different.

If anyone has questions regarding the decklist feel free to ask! Here is the link to the list:

I beat Mono G Tron in my 8th round. Felt real good. Probably the highlight of the night Grin

I've seen TiTi out of the side, but typically YP has been a main deck inclusion. YP is a great win condition, and for that reason I rather make room for him in the main than dedicate 4 sideboard slots for him. What version of Blue Moon are you playing?

Ross's list from the open is looking real slick. Currently I'm on Jeskai control, but I've noticed a lot of people at my LGS running close to the same list. Do you all think a list like Ross's is well positioned against the meta, and not just against other control decks, because I'm considering switching up to it for a bit, or would it be best to stick to Jeskai?

Currently running Ben Nik’s list with 3 Search for Azcanta. Thinking about cutting one for a Vendilion Clique out of the side, and adding a ceremonious rejection to the side. Thoughts??

Going to be headed to a 5 round FNM in a few hours. Wanted to post my hard control list and ask a few questions.

    Creatures: 7
    1 Pia and Kiran Nalaar
    2 Vendilion Clique
    4 Snapcaster Mage

    Instants/Sorceries: 24
    1 Harvest Pyre
    3 Cryptic Command
    1 Logic Knot
    2 Spell Snare
    2 Electrolyze
    4 Remand
    3 Serum Visions
    4 Opt
    4 Lightning Bolt

    Other spells: 6
    2 Jace, the Mind Sculptor
    3 Blood Moon
    1 Engineered Explosives

    Lands: 23
    1 Desolate Lighthouse
    3 Sulfur Falls
    4 Scalding Tarn
    4 Flooded Strand
    7 Island
    1 Mountain
    3 Steam Vents

    Sideboard
    2 Abrade
    2 Ceremonious Rejection
    2 Roast
    1 Keranos, God of Storms
    2 Anger of the Gods
    2 Dispel
    3 Relic of Progenitus
    1 Grim Lavamancer

Would my deck fair better against an open meta with TiTi and YP or is the value creature suite I have a reasonable enough wincon when paired with JTMS, blood moon, and burn?

I have a one of EE in the main, br I’m not sure if I should rock another P&K or a Grim lavamancer in the main in its place. EE is extremely flexible and great against goyf, DS, and a plethora of other permanents, so I’m weary about removing it from the main.

In regards to my sideboard, do any of you think there is a place/need for Izzet Staticaster or Titi? Would t be worth it to run the madcap combo in the side?

I welcome all comments and questions, though let’s try to keep the discussion on the lines of the hard control version of Blue Moon Smile

For those on hard control I want to ask what your biggest draw to the deck is vs other control decks such as u/w , jeskai, and grixis. The other archetypes I mentioned, for the most part, have acesss to the same, if not better spot removal and wipes. They also get to jam the same counterspells and more versatile SB options in.

I’m not talking smack on hard control, as I’m currently on it myself and enjoy it, though sometimes I ask myself why not Grixis for the hand distruption/removal? Is blood moon just that powerful right now?

What keeps you on hard u/r control vs u/r/x or u/w?

    Planeswalkers: 2
    2 Jace, the Mind Sculptor

    Creatures: 8
    1 Grim Lavamancer
    1 Pia and Kiran Nalaar
    4 Snapcaster Mage
    2 Vendilion Clique

    Instants/sorceries: 24
    3 Serum Visions
    3 Cryptic Command
    2 Electrolyze
    1 Harvest Pyre
    4 Lightning Bolt
    1 Logic Knot
    4 Opt
    4 Remand
    2 Spell Snare

    Enchantments: 3
    3 Blood Moon

    Lands: 23
    1 Field of Ruin
    2 Flooded Strand
    7 Island
    1 Mountain
    2 Polluted Delta
    4 Scalding Tarn
    3 Steam Vents
    3 Sulfur Falls

    Sideboard:

    1 Engineered Explosives
    2 Abrade
    2 Anger of the Gods
    2 Ceremonious Rejection
    2 Dispel
    1 Keranos, God of Storms
    3 Relic of Progenitus
    2 Roast

This is my current list. Not sure if the second electrolyze should be in there, but I wanted to shave a Jace and that’s what I went with.

I’m open to shaving a relic and a dispel or a ceremonious rejection from the side to make room for 2 Titi. Thoughts on that?

Not sure about Field of Ruin in the deck. Blood Moon already wrecks manabases and man lands, but Field of Ruin is super sweet and useful in situations where we don’t want to tap out for Blood Moon, or where we side it out.

For the most part remand has felt pretty great. EE in the main was nice, but there’s a good bit of affinity, elves, humans, and coco decks in my area, so Lavamancer seems real good, plus I have that dope Torment art Wink

Feel free to ask me questions about card choices and make suggestions about the build.

I don’t want to deviate from the “pure control” build. It’s just more my play style than combo is.

Look forward to hearing some feedback about some of the concerns/thoughts I mentioned in my post. Very happy to be on Blue Moon with you all!

I’ve been thinking about taking out 1 Ceremonious Rejection and 1 Relic from my side to make room for 2 Titi. I’ve moved EE back to the side and main decked my Grim Lavamancer. I’ve cut one JTMS for a second electrolyze. I’m not sure if electrolyze in place of the Jace is correct, but I feel like 2 JTMS is where we want to be.

Burn is a tough match, though not unwinnable. Usually we are winning with less than five life though. Tight plays and a little luck. Do you think two Titi in the side would help with burn while also being useful in other matchups? I like my cliques and p&k main as my meta is pretty wide open.

I’m also on Shota’s list right now. 25 lands seems a bit much, and I think there is room for another cantrip or some type of ca card like chart a course or AV, though I don’t know how good AV is as a one of.

I replaced the mindsculptor in the side with Kalitas, and am going to test out tendrils in place of LLH. Affinity, humans, and company decks are popular in my area.

Shota is a hell of a player, and that’s why I picked fae back up. I never liked lily in the deck, but JtMS provides a much needed ca engine, and if Shota is sleeveing it up I would like to believe there is something to the list.

I came across a similar list to his that topped in an event on the 4th, but replaced the JtMS and LLH in the side with tendrils and countersquall, which may be good. Kalitas seems great vs midrange and burn so I’ll try him out.

The card has so much reach for us, and it’s escalation is great. What are you thinking of filling that two spot with? I don’t know what your 75 looks like, but I couldn’t imagine replacing them with helix, or a card with a higher cmc.

Also, I have a flex spot and I’m not sure if I want to run Hazoret or Lily the last hope at this 1k this weekend. Anyone have some input?

I'm not sure how to create tags on a list, but wanted to put my list up for some feedback. The only difference between this list and what I had sleeved up for this past Fridays FNM is manamorphose. I cut 1 of my 3 main deck dreadbores and have added a manamorphose as reflected in this list. My meta is pretty wide open. I'm still unsure of the manamophose, but most decks I see putting up results are running at least 1 in the main. The same with blood moon. Most decks putting up results are running 1-2 blood moon in the main. I'm still not sold on blood moon and manamorphose, but will continue testing.

    Creatures:9
    4 Bedlam Reveler
    1 Hazoret the Fervent
    4 Young Pyromancer

    Sorceries:19
    2 Collective Brutality
    2 Dreadbore
    4 Lingering Souls
    4 Faithless Looting
    4 Inquisition of Kozilek
    3 Thoughtseize

    Instants:10
    4 Lightning Bolt
    3 Kolaghan's Command
    2 Fatal Push
    1 Manamorphose

    Encantments:2
    2 Blood Moon

    Lands:20
    4 Bloodstained Mire
    4 Marsh Flats
    4 Blackcleave Cliffs
    2 Blood Crypt
    2 Sacred Foundry
    2 Mountain
    2 Swamp

    Sideboard
    1 Fatal Push
    2 Kambal, Consul of Allocation
    1 Collective Brutality
    1 Nahiri, the Harbinger
    2 Wear
    4 Leyline of the Void
    3 Molten Rain
    1 Blood Moon

Any thoughts on my list? Any stories regarding blood moon or manamorphose that would help with my confidence in playing them? I know that comes with testing, but some examples of why they are played so often in this deck would still be fantastic.

I had seen Todd Stevens say that Nahiri was great in this deck. My biggest flex spot is Hazoret, but I have honestly not played enough with her to know which is better for what we want to do, as all of Nahiri's utility is great for our deck.
