I haven't been through all the pages in this thread yet, but I haven't seen any mention of the combo between Leonin Relic-Warder and a reanimation enchantment like Animate Dead or Dance of the Dead. With a creature like Zulaport Cutthroat and a sac outlet it's an easy game over. With Razaketh, the Foulblooded it's tutor for whatever you want until you run out of life.

Ross Merriam just placed 2nd with GW elves. He ran a single Marwyn in the deck. I’m intrigued.

Does anyone know what his individual record was? This was a team event after all, and it might be a question of did his team place second "in spite of" Marwyn.

My current sideboard looks like this:

    2 Fracturing Gust
    2 Reclamation Sage
    2 Elvish Champion
    2 Scavenging Ooze
    3 Essence Warden
    4 Thoughtseize

I had 2 Abrupt Decays in the side for a while but would rarely side them in. I found Rec Sage was able to hit all the same things so I dropped them altogether. The Wardens are for any heavy creature matchups/burn. If they are wasting a burn spell on Warden, I’m winning. Maybe one day we will get an Elf version of Kitesail! Wishful.. I know.

How do you sideboard against Jund, GW Hatebears and Soul Sisters?
I never see Soul Sisters or Hatebear at my locals. And for Jund I’ll only side in Champion. Lead the Stampede is MVP vs Jund.

Ah, could you post your list please? I'm interested to see the difference as Jund and Soul Sisters are hard matchups for me.

Quick FNM report: went 0-1-1 drop after the worst showing with the deck I've ever had. 4/6 games the deck failed to produce 20 points of burn... insanity.

Round 1: some type of sultai midrange deck. Basically played a bunch of serum visions, scavenging ooze and kitchen finks, and finish with JTMS. Game 1 went to me in convincing fashion. Game 2 he sided in tons of lifegain creatures and I drew too many lands. Game 3 I drew too many lands and managed to cast a Bridge, but he just played his 1 copy of JTMS left in his deck and ultimated me. 1-2

Round 2: U/B control. Game 1 went easily to me. Game 2 they played a Kalitas and beefed it up and gained way too much life. Game 3 neither of us could come up with lethal damage and the round went to time. 1-1-1

It is frustrating how often burn floods. Watching burn in the top 8 of the finals of GP Hartford he got screwed massively. 6 lands in play and he still draws 3 in a row, savage.

We already know 4 land hands are unkeepable, but honestly, so are 3 land hands. We need Barbarian Ring desperately. I run 19 lands and snap mull any 4 land hand and any 3 land hand that doesn't have several creatures/1 drops. 3 lands and all 2 drops is a snap mull. This seems like a deck that shouldn't lose to itself, but boy does it.

Goodness, this is beautiful! Detailed sideboard guides like this are extremely helpful for new players as sideboarding is a big part of winning modern matches.

I believe GR Eldrazi deserves addition to the guide as it's sideboarding is different from other decks with Eldrazi in them, such as Eldrazi Tron. Things like Ensnaring Bridge you would bring in against Eldrazi Tron, but you probably shouldn't against GR Eldrazi as they tend to bring in Ancient Grudge from the side.

For Ponza, it's a really tough matchup, but boarding in Path and Palm is rough. It's very easy for them to cut you off white via Blood Moon or Molten/Stone Rain and you're likely already land-less by the time they'd play a threat you'd want to path. I actually keep Eidolon in as most of their deck is 3CMC or less and is also the part of the deck we care about. I try to be as fast as possible and kill literally everything they play, which means boarding in DRev for Utopia Sprawl, Blood Moon and Courser. I'm wondering if it's correct to board in Bridge and try to play the long game though. Perhaps trying to get out an early Bridge and then sandbag your white-producing lands for Path'ing their threats?

I can't imagine playing with 20 land. I run 19 and I would honestly like to run 18 because the number of games I lose because I see 6 lands is nearly all of them. That is the thing I hate most about this deck is that you just lose the games where you flood. If you were playing Jund, you'd be perfectly happy at 6 lands, but in burn it feels miserable. The worst part is it's not even because of your opponent, you basically lost to your own deck. 4 land hands are 100% unkeepable and 3 land hands are risky. It feels like 1 and 2 land hands are where you want to be.

    @Moxnix,

While Dramatic Reversal is no Turnabout, the combo with Isochron Scepter does make infinite mana real easy. I see this combo a lot in cEDH decks, although those lists have a lot of mana dorks (birds, hierarch, etc) which make this card make more than just infinite colorless, but we have Gilded Lotus, Dimir Signet, Mox Diamond, Mox Opal, and Chrome Mox. Scepter can be used on a lot of other useful cards as well, like High Tide which could help makeup for the loss of Turnabout if that's what you took out for Dramatic Reversal. Or perhaps you could cut something else like Dack and FoF, since the functions of those cards could essentially be replaced by reversal and scepter. Dramatic Reversal seems like a perfectly fine ramp spell in our deck, but Isochron Scepter definitely feels lackluster outside of the combo. Then again, I'm not overly fond of Dack in this deck either. He mostly functions as a tempo play to steal their ramp in the early game or to help opening our DD piles, both of which Scepter could do.

Super quick report: I lost 0-4 last FNM, it was horrible. list in the signature.
UW control: he got down to 1 life both games and I couldnt topdeck a spell for some turns. Tried to accumulate spells to funnel his counters, but he found balance way before I accumulated enough damage.
Bogles: game 1, I go keep and he goes... Leyline of sanctity. He drew coronets as well. Could this be our worst MU?
Ponza: won g1 easy. But could not get there games 2 and 3... I really dont know how that happened, since it sure looks favorable for us, right?
Taxes: Won G1 easy again. Thalia plus surprise Worship finished g2 for him. g3 I mulld to 5 with a horrible hand...

I mean... how is this possible? going through the plays with my ops, they really couldnt think of any play that I could have chained better. It feels unrealistic that such a robust deck runs out of spells so man times in a row (I even play 2 extra shard volleys for extra reach). I am really confused...

As far as the previous question of how to play against ponza, you need to keep them off of mana and race them. I'd play searing effects against them and also bring drev to destroy Utopia Sprawl. Arbor Elf must die before they untap with it or you're in for a world of pain. Expect lifegain from them via Obstinate Baloth or other cards like it. DPalm is ok for when they seeing with their big creatures. In my experience, it's very tough if you let them get online. Keep in mind that blood moon can shut you off colors, and you might want to just avoid DRev and DPalm because of that.

What do you board out against Ponza? Does it change between play or draw? I have a hell of a time with Ponza between the land destruction, life gain, Trinisphere and Primal Command time walking me.
