I've been thinking for a while about getting into this deck, especially now that with the resurgence of both jund and Jace, the mind sculptor decks, the meta has become a bit slower. I also have a couple of questions (sorry if something has been answered during this thread).
1-While Dictate of Karametra is "safer" than Heartbeat of Spring, isn't it also at least a turn slower? If I'm not wrong the best case scenario is casting Dictate on their turn 3 and then go off on turn 4, but that seems very unlikely, considering that for that to happen you should have ramps both on turns 1 and 2, while also not using any type of card draw or filtering. I understand that Heartbeat of Spring doesn't have flash and therefore that means that, unless you cast it during the turn you go off, the opponent will get at least a whole turn with its effect, but it also means you can go off with 5 lands on the battlefield, which is possible on turn 3, or turn 4 with either tutoring or card drawing.
2-Which is the reason why Gifts Ungiven has been dismissed from the last decklists? It lets you search for some interesting packages involving combo pieces and things to get the back such as recollect, wildest dreams of even Drift of phantasms (in case you play Heartbeat).
