Right so then we should have half as many Elf Walkers as Human Walkers then right? Certainly we should have more then two one of whom has been dead for like a decade.
If we want direct correlations we need quite a few more Human Fighters, for some reason mages aren't too popular.
That is more a factor of every Walker needing a unique powerset or at least unique for their color combination. Even if the level of uniqueness is getting pretty stretched these days. Much easier to do with magic then melee.

Find it odd that the company who's other flagship product (dungeons and dragons) that is built entirely on creative story telling falls so far from expectations with each iteration with magic.
They could literally walk up the hall and get some fruitful input.
Not to mention Maro tells us nonhumans just aren't popular which is why we have so few compared to Human Walkers...funny and here I thought the most popular character in D&D is a Dark Elf. Funny how they can make it work but MTG just cannot sell nonhumans.
That shows everything wrong with War of the Spark. An interesting conflict resolved in the background so we can have some more named Walkers running around Ravnica.
I mean just cause I didn't want Jace overexposed doesn't mean I want to switch from the Jacetice League to Chandra and the Avengers. I mean I find Koth or Tibalt or Jaya far more interesting then Chandra as monoRed Walkers. Chandra is basically the generic fire mage and the unique things are she is Indian (though u cannot tell by looking at her) and she is Lesbian? Bi? But its not like WOTC focuses much on romance.
As for the cards themselves the 6 cmc one is problematic. A guaranteed Emblem cause the only way u can stop Chandra is with discard. Counters have been crippled between T3feri and nothing below 3 cmc allowed by Maro and Friends. And you probably need a Walker killing spell because you it goes up to 8 Loyalty after One Plus. So direct damage for Red and creature damage is unlikely to take it down unless you have an overwhelming board advantage. And if so she probably wipes most of your creatures if you were going low to the ground. The death of interaction.
Thinking about it... This set will most likely have FOUR Chandras.
Don't forget the planeswalkers decks!
Anyway, I wonder how much of Chandra's backstory are they going to retcon to make her look like the current Chandra instead of the Chandra who burglarized a sanctuary to get the Ghostfire scroll and burned it down just to escape.
I am waiting for them to retcon Lili's History personally.
I mean I suppose this confirms Chandra as the new face of magic.
But really this seems like a waste of an interesting idea. Like oh Chandra goes from Kid to Teen to Young Adult. This would be far more interesting for any of the Oldwalkers running around where there is a significant change since you know they have been around centuries to millennia.
As I said Chandra main advantage to me is more she is got a more exciting fighting style and she has the more typical Anime Shonen Protag personality that is tried and true. Those are character specific. Color Specific Red is a color that is simple to play relatively and cheap for new characters.
Which reminds me I wonder in this show if Abilities will be named after actual spells in the game.
Now I don't agree that making your lead a Lesbian is good for Business. Though I could totally see her being Bisexual so there is that. She is a women which is good for diversity points and she is sort of fantasy Indian though the fact can't tell that by looking at her could definitely bite WOTC in the behind while being on a progressive push.
Chandra's dad, Kiran, is pretty white compared to her mother - Pia - so it is not like they do not have an out.
My point is its hard to claim Chandra is good Diversity in terms of Characters of Color when she doesn't look like she is anything but an Irish Fire Lass. Ergo my point is they can push her as good LGBT Rep, good Women Rep but I expect blowback if they ever tried to push her as good People of Color Rep. And yes I know not every Indian looks the same but this is fantasy where you only have some many characters so having your Indian rep looking less Brown then Gideon aint anything to write home about.
Chandra is not more interesting then Jace. They are both generic. But I do agree Red is good for new players. Decks tend to be cheap regardless of format and the mechanics tend to be simple to pick up for RDW and Burn relative to other decks. It direct with its creature combat, direct damage plus it gets Dragons which doesn't hurt. Plus if you are going to do something animated or live action, Chandra has a much flashier combat style. I mean mind control and illusions are fine but rarely the bread and butter of any main character causes its not visceral in combat. Chandra is much more inline despite being Female of your typical Shonen Protag.

As for aging eh this an advantage of Oldwalkers. More realistic time scales

Its hard to tell since WOTC doesn't give their artist character sheets to keep things consistent.

How old is Chandra suppose to be?
I don't know much about how old the Gatewatchers are. We got in my book overall Kids, Teens, Young Adults, Middle Age, and Ancients.
