I assume they do original material or heavy adaptations cause honestly most of the Gatewatch content aint what I copy if I wanted to make a popular series. This isn't a Game of Thrones situation where D&D can coast on GRRM material.

I mean he did end up creating Gerrard and Karn who put Yawgmoth down for the count.

But yeah Urza is only Heroic insofar as he was opposing Yawgmoth who was worse and his main motivation for beating Yawgmoth was it being personal.

Still he is certainly a more interesting main character then the Gatewatch.

Some of the Gatewatch are fairly interesting. Not Jace (although he got through some much needed character development in Ixalan), or Beefslab. But Nissa, Chandra, and Ajani are all fairly interesting characters, and their character development since Oath have just improved it. Teferi is fairly interesting as well, but he was alredy interesting when he got introduced way back in Mirage. Lily is most entertaining when she gets to play to her strengths, that of being a villain protagonist. Kaya needs a lot of work, but her motivation has started to shine through, she still needs character development to become interesting, and a backstory explaining her motivations would go a long way as well. But half the Gatewatch are interesting characters, the other half needs work.

Nissa is inconsistent, I liked her more when she was a Xenophobe that was at least interesting contrast.

Chandra...nope...doesn't do anything for me I like her even less knowing she is suppose to be Fantasy Indian. Diversity cheat if you ask me. Not to mention she is budget Jaya knockoff and prevents Jaya from getting a good card....
Ajani is fine, I liked him with Elspeth. Doesn't get much to do.
Lili is good when she is allowed to be self centered so I agree on Villain Protag.
Kaya....is she suppose to be dumb. Cause I really have trouble with how someone can end up working for the worst of the worst twice and still supposedly be a "Hero"...I liked her better when I thought she was mercenary who was in it for the Gold and Magical Artifacts. That explain how one helps two Tyrants on two different planes cause again the only other explanation is she is dumber then Lili.

Teferi doesn't count agreed. And again doesn't get much to do. He at least gets good cards.

I mean what animation is good depends on tone...what is the tone for this show? Comedic, Serious Drama, etc?

I mean Netflix has been going hard into Cartoons/Anime of late probably as contrast to Disney rising up...however, yeah their original stuff aint great on this front. I do like Castlevania.

I do agree Animated is a better choice then Live Action.

It will be a boring Jacetice League Show most likely.

I actually liked Gideon cause at least turning into a Creature is unique as only he and Sarkhan really do that.
whereas as Teyo seems more generic and his section of the color pie is crowded with more popular characters yeah he might be default mono white but plenty of characters share that color.

Especially since WOTC nerf equipment anyway. So its disingenuous you expect the new Swords to be on the level of Fire and Ice if this argument was true.

This is Quantity compared to Quality when looking at Modern Horizons compared to War of the Spark.

Garruk in a Nordic land...hmm, for some reason the words "FUS RO DAH!" come to mind.

Indeed. Though I think WOTC missed peak time for such a plane. We had that sweet overlap between Game of Thrones and Skyrim.

Didn't some write an article where only three archtypes exist...Combo, Control and Aggro.

Anyway I say UR Phoenix is some Combo/Aggro sense it really doesn't play much in the way of controlling elements in the mainboard.

I mean none of these creatures really seem to have the disruption and cool effects of Humans or Spirits. Straight forward stat mods for the most part.

I wonder which evil mastermind she will accidentally work for next...card is pretty cool though.
