For the record, while t3 Ghalta is the nut draw, very common sequence can be t2 Steel Leaf, t3 Traxos swing for 5 with evasion, t4 Verdurous Gearhulk, untap Traxos, give him 4 counters, swing for 5 evasion and 11 trample (with a 4/4 blocker still up). Ridiculous!

I think a Heroic Intervention in response to Fumigate is often going to be gg, no?

I'm pretty excited to play green in standard now. My main approach is looking like mana ramp into Steel Leaf Champion, Traxos, Scourge of Kroog, and Ghalta, Primal Hunger, but I would LOVE to find a way to make Grunn, the Lonely King work. I'm skeptical, but I bought a playset anyways. Worst case, he will eventually be a fun-of. One idea I heard is to go RG and Fling him at the opponent's face. Good times!

Have you considered Multani, Yavimaya's Avatar? Since Grunn doesn't inherently have mana reduction (or trample) like Ghalta, I figure you want land ramp (Grow From the Ashes), which is tailor-made to enable Multani. Ditto for Kamahl's Druidic Vow. Put out something like a Rishkar, Peema Renegade and then cast Druidic Vow into Multani and a ton of land, Sylvan Awakening for the win (but pray there's no wrath).

Biggest concern I would have is that you're suggesting to play Steel Leaf at GGG in the same deck as a bunch of creatures that need BB. That sounds REALLY tough. Even a splash outside of mono-green needs to be done very carefully. I'm probably not even going to run Scavenger Grounds and go the artifact route for graveyard hate because I MUST have multiple ETB untapped green lands by turn 2. I think for you it could have to be a choice between mono-green with Steel Leaf or BG without.
