Is a game changer because we forced them to be untapped. They can just now tap for a beater and counter gifts ungiven-past in flames and let us there to start the beatdown the next turn. We have always faced hate but it seems to grow each set, and maybe rest in peace/sphere weren't so hard but those backed by free counter spells that we can't use ourselves to protect the combo and flusterstorm makes it even worst. It's not facing hate, is each set bringing more set to a deck that isn't even too much broken.

is modern horizons killing this deck? i love combo but i'm not willing to play against force of will in modern too. will a black splash for discard become viable?

The only thing I dislike from modern is how whinny have the players become. Every B&R announcement everyone is calling for a ban in the best deck. But there will always be a best deck. This is almost turning modern in a rotating format. I like non-interaction, and that should not be a reason for banning cards (like KCI) I can understand people who don't like linear strategies, because it's boring to play against them. It's also boring to play against UW control that goes t1 spell snare, t2: remand, t3 Mana leak and t4: cryptic command. If we would ban any deck we don't like, wouldn't have a format to play. People is screaming now for a faithless looting ban, without acknowledging how it is a pillar on the meta, and is important that it allows graveyard decks to exist. The "Phoenix" syndrome of a super popular deck is just a symptom of how wotc took it's design phylosophy since the end of theros block. MH isn't going to fix the problem just because wizards barely know something about modern. Is up to the players to understand that not everyone wants to play the game in the way they like it and that's a feature, not a con of the game. There's people who will play the best deck in the format just because it's the best, there's people who will play counter.dec because they want zero sum fun in the game. There's people who will play storm because they like counting to 20. Players should ask for unbans, not bans, and trying unbans should be done more often. Stoneforge, twin, preordain, and other cards are completely safe. But thanks to the players, the list just keep growing

@Lord Nahkiin; will do , my deck list is still all over the place. Trying multiple combos as back ups.I am not depending on the grinding station. It seems to feeble and easy to disrupt.

Fair fair. A multi-combos deck I remembered recently is Sly Sword by MtgGoldfish, if u wish to get some inspiration. Played 5-0 in a league and didn’t even have Sai printed at the time.

    Here’s a link if you’re interested: https://www.mtggoldfish.com/articles/much-abrew-sly-sword-modern

Good luck in your endeavours : )

Played this list against blue moon (with Thing in the ice) and it was good. The deck resisted the blood moon easily and the thopters chumpblocked their transformed monsters all day. He was pretty heavy on counters, but whirl of invention was enough. Is the only time I have played it tho. And still think it is a little clunky because g2 I mulliganed to 5 and lost.

Does anyone have some sites that share the deck play?

In my mind I agree that the semblance anvil is much worse than preban kci because

    1. Kci can respond after scrap tralwer is removed. Either cast another scrap tralwer. Or at a minimum sacrifice it for 2 mana.

    2. Self milling to get 2 myr retrievers is low probability. It will require luck and amount to wasted turns.

    3. Graveyard hate. Once they have a rest in peace type hate I don't think this new deck has an alternative win con. Old kci could still win without graveyard or side in 4 nature's claims. I don't think this new deck can react to a surgical extraction because it is solely based on 2 myr retrievers.

I have actually used the transitional sideboard plan. G2 side out almost all the combo and went with Karn or thopter tokens. It makes the Grave hate useless and forces them to think if third game we would change again or not the gameplan.

I find your second point more problematic. And I can't think of another answer that isn't sorcery speed

I haven’t played this Anvil deck nor seen it played, but could Whir of Invention be a way to fetch out a Myr Retriever or any other card that is needed? It seems a bit mana intensive but is a way to gets it all done.

although the convoke is actually possible, 3 blue mana makes it very slow. You would be able to realistically cast it for 2 on turn 3, taping all your mana sources, and without KCI the deck is much more tight on mana than before

After more testing with Piotr's list. i still feel the deck too fragile to interaction. i always win g1 (have played against jund, burn and mono U tron) but g2 and 3 they always stop whatever i try to do (only once i won with karn's token)

Yesterday I milled a burn player, but I still don't understand the way to cicle the pyrite spellbomb kill. Isn't it easier to change the pyrite spellbomb for a blasting station?

I kinda like playing against storm. On occasion it irks me. But overall I think wizards did a really good job managing storm

Storm is obviously fine now, I'm saying that we lost some fun cards that weren't broken, to keep a mechanic that will 100% break again, it's just a matter of when. I hope they don't do the same thing with kci, they need to just ban the card, if they think the deck is problematic.

Killing any deck, even if you don't like it is a bad move for wizards and for the format in general. Is better to ban a card but let the archetype endure than ending it forever. Believe it or not, there are people who likes those decks like storm, dredge and KCI. I don't think they should ban KCI but if they have to, the best thing is to just slow the deck instead of outright killing it. Either stirrings in the worst case or in the best case Ichor wellspring.

But that's not the best case. The best case is unban something that can slow the format. Twin is the obvious answer here, but the fact that unbanning twin is a hit directly in wizards pride makes it very hard. Reprinting counterspell and force spike is also an option but that will never happen because God forbid counterspell in standard. The biggest damage to the format is, infact self-imposed by wizards:the restriction of having all modern legal cards needed to pass by standard.

I don't understand all this madness about KCI. it's just 5 percent of the meta. UR Phoenix, Death shadow, spirits and humans, those are tempo decks (aka interactive) that are much more represented in the meta. also control decks are solid and have a good terminus. KCI is just the tipically "i don't like people playing combo against me" kind of deck. personally i don't think that a deck should be banned because you feel unfun to play against it, or else we should ban every deck that we lose against.
If what you want is a more "slow" meta the answer is simply just unban Splinter Twin. the meta policce should have never been banned to begin with. if twin were added to the current meta i think it would be a lot healthier. if even with twin you feel that blue decks are too powerful (who would have thought that the best blue card was red) then unbanning GSZ would also do. it's hardly broken in legacy and they have priest of titania, gaea's cradle and glimpse of nature

what's the concensus on Electrodominance? will it impact storm with the free suspend spells like ancestral vision and wheel of fate?
