Well this comes up every once and a while. There is nothing wrong with playing the game with the cards that are part of the game. If I'm playing chess and you think that my double knight board lock is "unfun", would you want to "ban" knights or think I am anti social? I agree that some groups have house bans on mld and other cards for power level purposes, but if you have access to "Arcum combo" then how is that more "fun" then Nath stax? I think immaturity and not a set of cards are the root of your problem.
I had a very successful and fun mono black deck with Kagemaro, First to Suffer. With all the draw and ramp in black it was easy to have a board wipe you could play at anytime. Very underrated card.
I use him in one of my favorite decks...the Heavy metal boals pain deck. It is creaturless and has all the trimmings of a enchantment pain deck. Lots of draw, paon, stax galore. But it is always so satifying to cast and hast him to rape an opponents hand... Love.
Ramos is....just crazy! It's got to be one of the most versatile commanders ever. I mean, you can pretty much build him any way you want. I think he might just be too easy for the good of what I like in EDH. Don't need too much brewing power to stack 99 cards that will blow up a table of 4. You can even just build a mono blue deck and have him as your commander and he's still good.
For BW I would go with my fav, Ghost pappy. The original, gives you a sac outlet in the command zone to start looping all sorts of tomfoolery. You should definitely check out Blackjack68 retired primer. It's full of great storytelling and insight. Plus most of the cards you'll need you probably already have. I still play my version and love it.
For UW i second merfolk tribal. lot's of fun and you get to play counter spells...
Maybe they'll print up an EDH Fallen Empires with Lobsters, thrulls, etc. Seriously, I think they'll mix and match the tribes in each deck. Sort of like a main Soldiers with minor cat or something like that. As for race and class, it could be anything really.
Well all I can say is, whatever tickles your fancy. But that said, I would not play with a ban list that size! I mean if you're going to ban some of this and some of that, at least be consequential. If your going to ban board wipes, ban them all! If you're going to ban tutors, ban 'em all! MLD, all land D! might as well ban all ETB and LTB creatures too, never know when something might be "Un fun" and stop people from playing and Eldrazi or something...Oh, right ban them too!
Harvest Season is the perfect EDH ramp spell. Scales perfectly and will set up some of the most degenerate board states. Hope people will play with bigger tables. The Naya general...Holy mother! I love the design, and I'm a fan of this kind of open end general. Shadow of the Grave is much more potent then it looks. Once people start the loops, it will show it's full potential. Great set so far.
