Sigh...this is so depressing. Pucatrade was my one salvation to keep playing Magic. I just can't spend money on this game like I used to, so for the past several years I've been using Pucatrade to dump off my old cards that I stored up from the Mirrodin/Rav/Time Spiral era that spiked in price. This let me continue to play Standard, build new/upgrade old EDH decks and pick up cards now and again for my Dragon/Planeswalker collection without having to spend much money at all. Now I can't seem to get anything at all. I've got everything from cheap Standard playables to recently reprinted Modern staples to Commander wants and junk foil wolf cards on my Wants and no one is really sending me anything. I can't find anywhere to trade online anymore.
I've been paying attention to new sets and reprint sets, but due to lack of funds, increasing difficulty in online trading and a Pokemon Go obsession, I haven't picked up very much and haven't given a ton of consideration to what all goodies have been printed for EDH, but my decks are getting pretty outdated and they need a boost!
I was looking for your guys' input on cards of each color (colors, colorless, etc) from BFZ Block, Shadows Over Innistrad block, Eternal Masters, Conspiracy 2 and Kaladesh that you consider to be new EDH staples or just so good that you'd probably include them in most EDH decks they fit into. Or just cards that you find really fun! Also looking for cards from mentioned blocks that would fit into the following decks:
Man, I didn't expect anything good to be left unspoiled after all of the cool cards we've seen, but there were a lot of gems here! Big fan of the Fateful Showdown, Select for Inspection, Glimmer of Genius, Dramatic Reversal and a few others I can't remember the name of. The artwork on the enemy fastlands is really good, especially the UG and GB ones. Those are downright beautiful. Basic lands are amazing too (except the forests, not a fan of those. All of the other basic lands have a no-civilization, just nature artwork that I love, but I just don't like the Forest. Looks more like a Plains to me).
Another thing I really like is the creature variety. Elephants, tigers, crocodiles and a hyena?! So cool. I hope we see more.
That board wipe is my kind of card. I'm a sucker for life gain already, so combining that with a wrath really gets me excited. Guess I found a new card for Karlov.
Is this why I can't get any trades going on? I've got all kinds of stuff on my want list, most cheap Standard cards, some Conspiracy 2 stuff and a few other random things, but it seems like no one is sending me anything. Every card I look up has a long waiting list on it, which is frustrating. I just came back after not trading on there for two months. The new layout confuses me. Took me forever to figure out how to do anything and I still keep forgetting how to do advanced searches.
Kambal is like my new favorite thing. I almost want to replace Karlov with him as my general, but I know he would get WAY too much hate in group play. I want to make a 1v1 deck with him but I already have two BW EDH decks.
Not sure why people are upset with this one, it looks pretty powerful. 3 mana for a 3/2 with an upside already isn't terrible. The fact that it's a double lord is really awesome. But the ability to start pumping out 2/2 chump blockers/attackers for only 4, at instant speed, without even having to tap the lord himself, is what pushes it over the edge IMO.
Geez. I think my Vorel deck definitely wants one. Man, there are so many good +1+1 counter support cards now, I can never find something to cut from that deck.
Maybe, but other than the wispy black smog stuff, I don't think Ashiok really resembles any of the concept art of the Aetherborn. Ashiok's face (what's left of it) looks distinctly humanesque, while the Aetherborn's faces all look very alien with their strange mouths and very craggy, jagged skin. They also have those disjointed arms that looks like they've been severed and are being held in place with aether, where Ashiok has fairly normal appendages. Ashiok also has the whole thing with half of his head being missing and those large horn things on either side of what's left of his head. The Aetherborn, from what I've seen, lack those horns. I wouldn't rule it out, but I think they're going to have to explain why Ashiok looks so different from your average Aetherborn if he/she/it is one.
Man, too bad werewolf lovers didn't have a big champion on their side like guy who talked about his love of Dwarves. Then maybe we could have got a halfway decent Werewolf tribal legend /stillsalty
I'm not big on the setting or the main races here and artifacts are probably my least favorite card type, but some pretty fun cards spoiled so far and the world does look beautiful. Vehicles look like they'll confuse a lot of new players though.
