The deck's main stategy is to get Hunted Horror out really early and bounce the centaur tokens with Echoing Truth, leaving you with a turn three 7/7 on board. I'm running Thing in the Ice as an alt win condition as well as for its bounce effect which removes all creatures except horrors.
Supporting instants are there to counter opponents spells, dig for needed cards and tick down Thing in the Ice. Jace, Telepath Unbound is really good for keeping enemy creature threats under control and for flashbacking instants. Delver of Secrets is there to provide possible early evasive threat and to draw removal.
The sideboard is pretty flexible, the one above is largely in response to the current decks I've found myself facing.
The deck has done really well against goblin storm and other token decks, as well as creature decks in general. It is pretty bad against bogles though.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions for improvements.
I have been testing Dawn of Hope out recently and I have found that more often than not, I'd rather just have another creature card in hand.
It would be good in the later game if it gets drawn out so I may try to find room in the sideboard for it.
On a different note, I'm finding that Ajani's Pridemate frequently grows very large but has no way of getting to the opponent through chump blockers and deathtouch creatures. Has anyone successfully experimented with giving him evasion? Maybe Whispersilk Cloak or Passwall Adept - though that would involve splashing blue so maybe not. Any other possibilities?
Hi all. I've only just discovered this deck and am very much enjoying it. Like a lot of people, I find Modern's cost-of-entry very challenging and so it's great to finally find a deck that performs well against top-teir decks.
I've had some success with the following list but any advice would be welcomed.
I'm thinking of replacing the Lone Riders with two more Auriok Champions when I can afford it (they're expensive).
Archangel of Thune has won me several games, it's a powerhouse in this deck. I did try Resplendent Angel but it seemed too hard to reliably pull off, despite having Martyr of the Sands in the deck at the time. The above iteration seems to be more consistent.
I'm pretty new to MTG and only play online.
My budget doesn't stretch to meta decks and I like playing around with new things which is why I like the large card pool of Modern.
I think the deck is getting there but I could use advice from players who know the format better on should be cut and which might have better replacements.
As you can see, it's not too tidy and I've probably made some rookie mistakes - I'd welcome your advice.
I did have 1x Tempered Steel in the deck but thought the cost might be too greedy for the mana base. I also considered signal pest but didn't think it had quite enough synergy.
I'd like some advice on how to make it better.

I do like the LR but I'm not sure he's the most effective card in that slot.
Also, is a playset of Flagstones of Trokair worth it? I'm not convinced but then I might be missing the point.

I love infect and wanted to try a colourless version using Thran Temporal Gateway to cheat in cards like Blightsteel Colossus and Darksteel Forge .
