this card strikes me as being way too good! (so did Academy Ruins and Volrath's Stronghold, and I had a Stronghold back in teh day)
gonna be marginal in monomanic competitive decks but really oppressive in casual formats, this card makes Mortify etc look pretty stupid
never been comfortable with this sort of effect - it asks you to play land destruction which makes people complain like crazy
this card supports modern cos it'll be worth a ton, as swords always are, so you can trade it for teferis and karns
the designers behind this set must REALLY be worried that people won't buy it unless it's jam-packed with economically-strong cards
and forgot that not every card which sells is worth anything competitively
have loved this card ever since it came out
doesn't this cause an argument in pauper though :))) this card is only common online, the reprint is uncommon as is the judgment original
i haven't seen them print many cards in this set that are adjuncts and improvements for the top modern decks either (maybe the Welder variant is interesting for the Prison players?); the angle they seem to be taking is to bombard us with starting points for new decks! they are very clearly trying to establish modern slivers and slide from what we already know!
if the set relied on reprints what you'd have is a watered-down Legacy.
it really hits you over the head with what it's referencing huh
like
title: Remember Bazaar of Baghdad?
art: Remember Bazaar of Baghdad??
flavour text: Remember Bazaar of Baghdad???
ability: Remember Bazaar of Baghdad????
do your commander play groups like it when you put out Food Chain and win immediately?
it seems like the sort of situation where most players I've encountered would say, congratulations, you win, and then play without you lol
imagining something like
puzzle-solving sliver 2ug
creature - sliver, uncommon
slivers have "4: adapt 2"
when a sliver adapts you may tap target permanent
2/2
although if Adapt isn't in the set they could template it really similarly with monstrous
the white & red sliver is so powerful mmm
less splashy than the unearth one but just so solid and open-ended
wonder who'd be the best commander to run in a white&red sliver deck?
mmm I would love to play this with stuff like promise of bunrei and monastery mentor? getting a +1/+1 bonus for probably the rest of the game might be worth zero mana =P

you can name Human or Servo or Monk to blank some very good individual cards
