I feel that GR LD is a terrible matchup for Amulet. Playing it myself for over a year and having a lot of success online etc. Ponza was the WORST matchup to sit against. I think Tron would say the same thing. I would go with that and tune to beat the rest of the meta outside of Tron/Amulet which you will have strong game against.
I am looking at getting back into MTGO. Played Amulet Titan for about a year and had success with it, played Mardu Pyro as well for a few months and really enjoyed playing it to less success though. Also played Burn for about 4-5 months and enjoyed it but not really my style.
Decks I am considering:
Mardu Pyromancer
Grixis DS
Jund DS (Goyfs etc)
First I would like to say I have decided I want a "fair" midrange deck. I feel the wins with these decks feel better since you have to outplay your opponent in most games. I enjoy the disruptive elements paired with the counters in GDS. I am open to other suggestions but I would like a deck that can optimize the following.
- Beating control or at least a mid matchup with control decks. I hate losing a 45 min game to control.
- Have some game against Tron. (I know this is a somewhat strong ask of a midrange deck)
- Be able to tune the deck to the current meta (Current appeal of GDS and morphing into Jund DS over time)
- Have some play against creature decks with removal etc.
- Be able to play an aggro game when needed.
- Disrupt the super linear decks (Storm, Ad Nauseum, Dredge etc.)
I would love to hear comments about what more experienced players think of these decks lines up well or other suggestions are open as well! Thank you for reading and all your advice.
I appreciate the reply. I am currently testing 2 versions of this in Untap with one being very close to your list and another I am messing with. Do you have a current version to link to in the main thread? Interested to see where you are at. I like the Hornet Queen MD and have Trinisphere in the side currently. Are you running this main? I agree with the 2 drop statement usually we have 3 mana at that point. And I am currently running 4x Sakura so I would love to hear what you replaced those with.
I just discovered this deck and think it looks like a blast to play. I currently run Amulet Titan and love the green ramp element. With that do you think Explore has a place in this deck to filter a land and replace it potentially with another land/gas. Either is good and ramps you as well. Seems like a great fit in this deck. But I love what you have done and am looking to get the pieces currently.
