I've finally started to reacquire some of the cards I had to sale to pay for my divorce (though it's cost me most of two of my trade binders but this is my favorite deck so why not?). Atm that includes Gaea's Cradle and the OG duals. I will be replacing Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet with Clever Impersonator (easy swap out, keeps me from having to cut something else since I finally found my other Impersonator) as Kalitas just didn't have the impact I was hoping for.
Next on my reacquire list is Intuition and Survival of the Fittest (these were actually harder to find in my area than Cradle & duals).
To to hear but at least you're able to get it back. It sucks having to sell and then rebuy RL cards. I did it with City of Traitors last year after they spike again, that was painful.
Both those cards are good for EDH which makes them harder to find. Plus I believe Intuition is still legal in Legacy.
Yeah, it's been a while since I've sat down to play the deck - even on Cockatrice. I've been very busy with college. However, I was at least able to test the recent changes in the deck when I made them and I was quite satisfied. It's very rare to have to make so many changes to this deck at once so it's not like I need consistent testing. I do like to play it whenever I have a chance just to not get rusty. This isn't a simple deck to pilot, after all.
@ WWWolfe:
I'm glad that you're at least on your way to recovering some of the cards you had to part with. At least for the most part they aren't entirely crucial but a solid mana base does go a long way.
I hear you on lack of time. With 6 month old twins, a 5 year old besides that, work, other hobbies and life in general I'm lucky to get 1 night a week to play and then I have to choice between Legacy and EDH.
I highly suggest Noxious Revival for getting anything back from the graveyard at instant speed. It can also hit other peoples graveyards, 'Oh, you want to reanimate that fatty, NOPE!'.
What's even better is it's a Phyrexian green mana so you don't even need to hold up mana.
I don't have an issue with combo decks. I play a mixture of both and sometimes a game just has to end, combo is a means to an end.
I remember a recent game with my [[Chainer, Dementia Master]] deck. After about 3 miserable hours the game was finally over. A combo from any one of us could have gotten a few more games in that night. They other table playing with us had 3-4 games to our 1!
I do play some all in competitive combo decks (actual cEDH decks) and they are consistent. A way to power down combo decks is to remove Tutors. An example is my [[Sidisi, Brood Tyrant]] deck which has a [[Food Chain]] combo. However outside of [[Sidisi, Undead Vizier]] and [[Razaketh]] I've got no tutors. I've only ever had the [[Food Chain]] combo go off once because usually the pieces or tutors are removed right away.
This brings me to my final point - run interaction. Removal, counterspells, protection, etc.
i cannot reccomend enough a camera bag off of amazon. Its similar to the pirate labs bags that have the customizable dividers. i have 10-11 decks at a time in ultrapro 200 ct boxes and each has a section this is what mine looks like
you can get them for about $30 and there are pockets that hold paper, pens, and dice just fine. the tripod staps work great for rolled up playmats as well
I've got my play sets from my Modern days (my Legacy deck don't play duals because I don't have enough) but that's hardly enough for the amount of decks I own. Thankfully most places/people I'm play with are fine with proxies if I've got the card.
I think the signets would be a good fit if you can find room. While not perfect they are good mana fixing.
I'd highly suggest getting some fetch lands for the deck if you can afford them, really helps with mana fixing.
Apart from that I find the Signets really useful in my build.
Yeah, fetches aren’t really in my budget. I’ll probably pick up the other two shocks now that they’ve been reprinted, but I think generally the lands have just been screwy draws, and it’s as much a draw thing as it is colour fixing. One thing I really want for the build is Corpse Harvester, which will get me either swamp shock as well as Fetid Pools. Otherwise I guess I could go cheap fetches with Evolving Wilds and such. I’m just not keen to spend money on Fetches when I don’t run anything here to get more than one use from them. It is a good suggestion, though, thanks for the input!
I understand that, they are getting on the pricey side. Corpse Harvester is a nice stand in and can get Zombies too. I haven't actually played him yet.
I play fetches in all my decks because I own them, the deck thinning is mostly mute in EDH but I like insuring I have access to the colors I need.
Played some last night at the LGS with people waiting on the midnight pre-release, I'm going to have to put in some more answers for GY hate in my deck. People are starting to run more just because of my Sidisi & Karador decks. I'm leaning towards Assassin's Trophy & Caustic Caterpillar but am open to suggestions from anyone else that has had to make the same move.
I highly suggest slotting in both cards if you can find space. Assassin's Trophy is a staple for me now in BG decks, it can hit so much.
A couple ideas I have been going through in my head...
I think people are overvaluing the value of the Prime Speaker Vannifar. I could be wrong, but wouldn't we just rather play Birthing Pod as it doesn't have summoning sickness? And that Birthing Pod is a fine choice, but that option has always been open to us. Maybe I'm missing something, but it doesn't seem like Prime Speaker Vannifar is providing much of anything new to us.
I previously disregarded Underrealm Lich as a card that looks great, but in reality is slow and doesn't provide that much value for how much it costs. Maybe this is old news, but did people realize the potential with Sylvan Library? I missed this at first, but now I'm thinking including them both is worth it.
I think the big thing with Vannifar is the fact she is creature which lines up well with Sidisi. I'm not sold on her mainly because I'd have to retool my entire list.
Underrealm Lich and Sylvan Library are totally worth the room especially with The Gitrog Monster. The card draw is very realivent and has been nothing but great for me the couple times I played it.
What happens when I go through my binder and find a Darksteel Plate and Umezawa's Jitte that need a home? Well I build a Voltron deck naturally. It's probably the only EDH archtype I haven't tried.
I'm going for more of an Enchantress build with some Equipment sprinkled in.
Only had a couple game with the deck so far and it's been awesome. Estrid's Invocation is broken, double up on your best enchantment helps to close out the game quicker. The pillow fort cards help with crack back. Plus the super secret spicy tech of Tawnos's Coffin throws people for a loop.
As of right now I want to find room for Bloom Tender, maybe drop another land since my Average CMC is 2.74.

I haven't played the deck too much lately (busy trying some other builds), it's in a good place though and I like how it performs.
$1439.99 at Face to Face!
Glad I didn't pay that.
