Alright I added all the goodies (although not yet reflected on Cube Cobra). I think it will be up to me to win with this archetype to show my spiky group it’s viable. And maybe it turns out it’s not, but we’ll see.
Worst case maybe we’ll learn to appreciate Life from the Loam which will make wtwlf happy! Haha.

With the triome cycle to be completed in New Capenna, some domain cards become more appealing, especially this because a single Triome turns this into a Mana Leak. Pretty appealing for larger cubes that can fit the triomes + is looking for more cheap counter spells. -

Mergatroid_Jones posted a message on [MCD] Fires ArchetypeMy favorite of the newer Fires variants is definitely Samut, Tyrant Smasher. She's pretty similar to Sarkhan Vol on the face, and she appears less versatile. But that's deceptive, and hybrid mana makes a world of difference.Posted in: Cube Card and Archetype Discussion
Unlike almost every other haste enabler, this plays in mono-green, where you find all the mana dorks and fatties. Sarkhan (and fires of yavimaya for that matter) shine in exactly RG, where Samut also shines in a UG tempo deck, or a BR reanimator deck. It's difficult to put in proportion just how much better 2(R/G)(R/G) is than 2RG in limited. Frankly she'd be pretty good if she just cost 2GG.
Not to mention the scry engine in colors that desperately need it. That has saved me many times.
I've been very impressed with her, and she's my favorite Red/Green planeswalker as well as favorite fires variant. Although she doesn't hold a candle to Lightning Greaves. -

steve_man posted a message on [C21][CUBE] Incarnation TechniqueOne funny blowout I just witnessed: Player A casts Incarnation Technique with demonstrate trigger. Their opponent milled a Dauthi Voidwalker and brought it back to the battlefield. Player A ends up milling Emrakul, the Aeons Torn / Emrakul, the Promised End into Dauthi Voidwalker.Posted in: Cube Card and Archetype Discussion -

Mergatroid_Jones posted a message on [ELD][CUBE] Kenrith's TransformationI don't know if I've ever been sorry to see this card. This is some of the better creature removal in green. Green decks really aren't afraid of the opponent having a 3/3, and it's not uncommon to use this on one of your tokens just because you need the cantrip. Early on, that can be really powerful, since the 3/3 is still quite relevant, and a cantrip can draw you a crucial land.Posted in: Cube Card and Archetype Discussion
This probably isn't for the smallest cubes, but I think it's absolutely worth testing at mid-size if you are on the lookout for green creature removal. -

Visserdrix posted a message on [C21][CUBE] Incarnation Techniquei suffered my first "blow out" this past weekend in a reanimator deck. One reanimated target had already been pathed away. double techniqued with 17 cards left and 3 targets. opponent got back hermit, and I wiffed on both ITs. it was very sad times. still love this card though haha.Posted in: Cube Card and Archetype Discussion -

It's a blue guy who lets you cast artifacts and enchantments out of your graveyard for white mana, and draws you cards, but bounces your lands while doing it.
That's gotta be one of the strangest collections of abilities out there, but it has a lot of potential. This strikes me as a fun build-around.
Artifact recursion is the most obvious use, but there's also landfall, and enchantment synergy. For a card that loves the graveyard like this does, filling up your hand with discard fodder might be useful too. And there's gotta be something you can do with that "draw when a noncreature is bounced" nonsense. (Flickering Ward is a favorite). Every part of this guy is full of potential synergies. -

Visserdrix posted a message on [C19][CUBE] - Idol of OblivionPosted in: Cube Card and Archetype DiscussionQuote from armando.zuffi »I tested this a few days ago and This had been really good for us. I know that seems so narrow for cube but I think the token generation increased in last years in the cube. Does more someone have good experiences with it?
I love this card. My playgroup isn't a fan but I've had a ton of fun with it. So many repeat token generators out there these days. Whether it's a combo with nadir kraken or just value off retrofitter foundry, bitterblossom, Adeline, resplendent cathar, or any rabblemaster variant. its awesome. doesn't matter if its a creature token or if its just a clue, food, treasure, or now blood token. there are so many ways to easily draw cars off of this.
One instance I will always remember is I had both idol of oblivion and skullclamp on the field and my opponent chose to disenchant the idol instead of the clamp. I would say the card draws on average 2 cards per cast which is a great return for 2 mana and I have also traded it in for an eldrazi token on multiple occasions where games go long.
Absolute pet card for me, but if your group enjoys it then run it and I think you'll be surprised! -

You obviously need to be discarding this for it to be good. But if you do, paying 3 mana for a 8/4 that kills their best creature (and probably loses you some life) instead of discarding a card is amazing.
This is particularly brutal to have on turn 3 if your 2-drop was Heir of Falkenrath (or Fleeting Spirit or Seasoned Hallowblade in BW). Having this in your deck makes Survival of the Fittest ridiculous (if it wasn't already) and Fauna Shaman a must kill for creature decks (if it wasn't already). However, since the madness cost is 3, you need a lot of free discard outlets for this to reach full potential. With Pack Rat for example, you can only get this on the board once you reach 6 mana.
If you manage to hardcast this, you aren't that sad either, though that definitely should not be your main plan if it's in your deck. Hardcasted, this is like a bit worse Noxious Gearhulk for 1 more mana. Similarly, this isn't the worst creature to reanimate (especially as reanimator decks typically have discard outlets to make use of the madness). - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

I have such fond memories of that card and I really love the versatility - you've inspired me to try it out.
