I was reading up on Ranging Raptors So if this card is dealt damage multiple does then does this ability trigger multiple times or once? Also if this creature is destroyed by a spell like Cast Down Does it's ability still trigger?
@Decepticon
Hmm well it's more of a midrange answer but to each his own. Besides I get its more of I want to squeeze 3 to 4 guys out and swing for 10-15 damage and win the game which works.
@SavannahLion
And Plummet yea that should be sideboard.
Fetchlands like Grow from the Ashes can be counted as 1 source and acts like a checkland.
Mana Dorks like Llanowar Elves would count for .5 mana source while Dragon's Hoard and Manalith would count for full mana source.
And Gift of Paradise which taps land and adds any color would count for 1.5.
I believe Frank mentions in the article that for cantrips like Opt / Anticipate. These can be treated as .25 which would explain reasoning for lower counts on burn decks.
I guess I'll also note the case for when we need to cast cards that have a double mana requirement on Turn 2/3/4/5
His chart states you need about
20 on Turn 2
19 on Turn 3
18 on Turn 4
16 on Turn 5
Since those are the most important turns.
He also notes for Cards that have splashed color requirements need roughly 9 mana if they come out Turn 5.
So to estimate what he states.
hmm I see, so what about Mana sinks like Shalai, Voice of Plenty and Thorn Lieutenant where we pay mana but it buffs a creature. This is the only other use case scenario I can think of.
Shame...I just learned about this format and I think it is an interesting alternative to standard. I would have liked to play this format instead of commander.
1. so would an example of an activated ability be Fanatical Firebrand because this would just tap.
The way I understand it is that triggered abilities would require another card to be played for the ability to take effect.
Would ETB abilities cause this to work as well such as Vishiano Pyromancer?
I have been testing this card out but was a little confused on it's card draw ability.
like on T3 if I play Runic Armasaur and the opponent plays Adeliz, the Cinder Wind and then plays Wizard's Lighting Would that draw me a card due to Adeliz's ability? Or am I totally looking at this the wrong way? I guess I am trying to understand that fine line between mana based stuff and abilities on the creatures.
Wanted to get clarification on sacrificing with cards like Thrashing Brontodon, Siren Stormtamer. Am I able to tap these cards and have them attack and during the combat phase if OP plays cards like Fumigate or Seal Away. If the card is tapped am I still able to sacrifice it and use it's ability?

I think Decepticon hit this right on the head. Even though there are a few cards that do rotate but that really isn't a big issue as he said.
Blossoming defense can be swapped for dive down
unsummon for blink of an eye/syncopate or it will get a reprint
Shock land replaces the old checkland
Kopala, Warden of Waves or Jace, Cunning Castaway I think may be able to go in.
I don't like Silvergill Adept
Jadelight Ranger can always replace Merfolk Branchwalker
There is also Jade Guardian which is hexproof.
and oddly enough there are no flyers in here. So need something to combat flyers come rotation. Maybe Plummet

Are Aura's only limited to creatures we control? or are we able to play these on opponent's creatures?
