This weekend i went to a MCQ in Germany. Both Saturday and Sunday events.
Saturday (156 players) i played Thalia Stompy and went 0-4 drop. It was terrible.
Sunday (111 players) i played colorless eldrazi and went 5-2.
I try to make a writeup from Sunday event.
R1 vs Humans 1-2
G1: (play) T1 Chalice, opponent plays cavern into hierarch. Later in the game opponent has double meddling mage on TKS and Scourge. He knew my hand through Kitesail.
G2: was a fast one for me. Double temple with TKS and smasher in hand. Drew second smasher.
G3: Had a turn 2 smasher out but opponent but Plague engineer in and copies my smasher and won with through topdeck mantis rider.
R2 vs Infect 2-0
Were 2 fast games for me. Killing his only dudes each game and TKS his hand taking out his remaining dudes was enough whith Mimic, TKS and smashers.
R3 vs Red prison 2-0
I saw this guy playing the round before and saw he was on red prison so i knew what i was facing.
G1: (play) Took 1 mulligan and kept fast hand. Put chalice to bottom. T1 mimic into T2 Reshaper. T3 Scourge. T3 Opponent plays ritual into Karn Gc getting ensnaring bridge from sideobard. T4 i take bridge with TKS. T5 smasher oppo scoops.
G2: Mulliganed 2 times and powdered 2 times. Kept hand with wastes and had 2 scourge in exile.
I don’t rembember how it went but opponent had blood moon out and rabblemaster but my eldrazi’s were to big and kept on atticking him. No chance for him there.
R4 vs Hogaak 0-2
G1 (draw): Opponent had his gaak and bridgvines T2 so scoop for me.
G2 (play): Powdered and mulliganed to leyline but got wrecked by force of vigor and had no chance.
Top 8 was no longer possible so let’s go for top32 prices.
R5 vs UR Phoenix 2-0
G1 (play): T1 chalice into enough dudes to kill him in a few turns.
G2 (draw): Leyline into T1 chalice was enough.
R6 vs Red/black prison/superfriends kind of deck 2-1
I also saw this guy playing and saw brigde and moon in play so ik knew it was prison. (not BR at the time)
G1 (play):1 mulligan and 2 powder with 2 scourges in exile. I didn’t keep a hand with chalice. Kept hand with 1 temple. T1 mimic, T2 scourge T4 TkS or smasher was enough.
G2 (draw): got prisoned and he had chandra torch emblem out and i didn’t had wastes.
G3 (play): Kept hand with temple and wastes and had 1 scourge exile after first powder. Had T2 TkS and took is dreadbore from hand in stead of blood moon. Wich was enough. Hey didn’t drew anyting troublesome in the turns after.
R7 vs Hoogaak 2-1
G1 (play): This was a long game with me trading a lot of creatures vs his Gaak and other stuff.
Made a big mistake and i don’t know why but i put blast zone on 3???? Somewhere in the game. Wich cost me the game.
G2 (play): Powdered and mulliganed to double leyline and had fast hand with TKs and double smasher.
G3 (draw): opponent kept a 1 land hand that didn’t had answers to leyline.
I started with leyline in play and started with temple. Opponent got second land in T4 or so and only had 2 cravecrawlers out. I kept attacking with double scourge and 1 matter reshaper.
Opponent plays loleth trol passes turn.
I played smasher and attacked with evertying and i had mana open for dismember. Opponent blocks smasher with troll and discards his 4 creatures he hand in hand to troll. I dismember troll and he gives hand shake.
I felt very happy by beating Hogaak but opponent kept a terrible hand imo so that was good for me.
Finished 18th place out of 111.
Colorless Eldrazi feels way better then Thalia stompy did this weekend. Somehow thalia stompy always plays against me.
I'm a fan of the deck as well! This is my current list. I've asked Tom Medvec to share his list he played in the SCG team event.
And with a some very small changes this is my current list that i like.
You could add Prismatic vista and/or Marsh Flats as an enabler for Fatal push doesn't hurt the manabase that much. I would cut it for Fetid Heath or so. But you have ghost quarters and silent clearings so you can get short on mana with saccing lands.
Displacer is great! Does so many things and yes sometimes Displacer can be slow. I'm not a fan of Blight herder and Endbringer. I think it's to slow.
On turn one i rather play Relic, Inquisition, thoughtseize or keep mana up for removal then playing Dryad Militant.
Lingering souls is not good at the moment. To many phoenix decks flying around.

G1(play) chalice on 1 en double TKS into smasher was enough.
G2(draw) My turn1 chalice got countered and opponent had enough removal for my threats and became topdeck modus for me. so i scooped.
G3(play) T1 chalice again into t2 mimic, t3 TKS t4 smasher, with removal up for his snapie to kill him.

G1(play) T1 chalice, T2 mimic, t3 TKS, t4 TKS t5 smasher
G2(draw) opening with leyline and t1 chalice. had enough time to kill him fast.

G1(play)opponent kept a one land hand with hierarch wich i killed on the spot it came onto the battlefield. her never drew second land.
G2(draw) got wrecked really fast
G3(play)Long grindy game. Torpor orb won me the game. had enough removal for his mantis riders. Big boardstate. I kept swinging with my blinkmoth and killed him.

Top8: vs Humans (same player) 0-2

G2(play): Mulled a couple of times to find removal/threat hands to a 4 card hand again and reflector mages won him the game.
Humans player won the tournament in the end.
List felt pretty solid. Humans is nog a great matchup imo.
Going to test this list next couple of days and take it out to a small tournament this sunday to see how it goes.
Anyone got a guide with matchups for red eldrazi?? I know the primer on Modern nexus, but on the red list i don't know if there is one floating around?
The biggest problem for the deck is Worship and Ensnaring Bridge.
That's why i play Cast out. It's flexible but it costs 4 CMC.
I saw a list that plays revoke existence. It's sorcery speed but it exiles wich makes welding jar bad for example. THOUGHTS??

I know 2 leagus isn't much but colorless felt way better! @ Hertz you are right about the downside of Obligator...
We mulligan aggresive and colorless has less problems with it. And i also think Karn SoU is nice grind card.
So i'm staying on colorless for now. Feels way better then Red.

Don't want to play 1 drops because they don't work well with Chalice.

I agree with the point on losing tech lands compared to the colorless version. But I think we have more utility with playing red.
Warping Wail ] is realy good at the moment. Kills some much creatures! The list i made on goldfish was a quick Edit on MRbonner's list.

With the London Mulligan Rule i think the Powder Eldrazi decks seem very well in this meta.
I have the option to build colorless and the red version of the deck.
I don't own mycosinth lattice so eldrazi tron isn't going to be an option anytime soon.
Currently i played Thalia Stompy and made a BW Thalia Stompy deck when bridge was legal.
Now I'm wondering what are pro's and cons with colorless and red eldrazi stompy.

Colorless is more consistent but Red has some powerfull answers for various matchups that colorless lacks.

I just picked up this deck. Reason is i like Eldrazi and Taxes decks.
Played different decks last few years.
Does anyone have sort of guide for mulligan, sideboarding and numbers on chalice of the void vs different decks.
Testing the deck for an upcomming event and i think Death and Staxes is pretty good underdog at the moment.
