...yet all of them fall short because I can't find a commander in Abzan colors that properly complements the disruptive, grindy, value-oriented midrange pile I want to play.
Maybe you can go for a Meren variant using Karador as the commander and access to Abzan colors. Would require abusing smaller critters to really get Meren online so you can abuse the bigger ones.
Can't wait to see the set card that grants instants and sorceries in your yard the Jump-Start ability, probably overcosted as usual.
Surveil makes logical sense to me and can be very fun in a graveyard centric deck.
Mentor I currently only see being useful if the creature in question has first strike, probably missing something.
Convoke returning is great, nothing else to say.
That last one going to be interesting. Perhaps there be an Undergrowth card that makes player discard X cards where X is equal to creatures in your yard.
Indestructible seems kind of redundant on a body that big. Trample would've been a better option.
But as for Convoke, it makes sense that they're using older mechanics. It's getting to the point where they don't have much wiggle room in new mechanics without introducing new card types, colours or what have you. I wonder if some of the other guilds might have a returning mechanic too. I just hope Boros RW doesn't get Radiance again

Might also be capitalizing on peoples nostalgia of Ravnica 1 while being financially safer than Ravnica 2.
Yeah, I don't get why the Green mythic has a group hug effect when the others don't. Maybe to counterbalance the cost reduction on a 4/4 Trampler - and also to distance it from Primordial and Titan. Seems to me they couldn't figure out a Green ability that would make sense in a multiplayer format without it being broken.
Still be broken. Just not in the one-sided sense. Throw in a repeatable flicker effect source and I think you can see why its still going to be a problem at the table.
Good luck to you.
