Any good 0 CMC instants to cast as well for added value? Only one I could think of is Evermind but it seems too much of a waste of a deck slot just to make finale cantrip.
With the spoiling of Squirrel Nest I do wonder if there’s an Intruder Alarm version of this combo deck that fits in arbor elf and other untap target land creatures.
Just a suggestion, but I think Mina and Denn, Wildborn might be worth looking into for players doing a budget list when it comes to the mana base. The ability to drop more than one land on to the battlefield is really good when running all ten of the Ravnica bounce lands. might even be worth putting in one or two more effects like it such as Rights of Flourishing, Azusa, Lost but Seeking, Wayward Swordtooth or maybe The Gitrog Monster (with perhaps a crucible of worlds style of effect) depending on the collection and budget.
I could see Snow Duals happen as a sort of checkland, in that they enter tapped unless you control another snow permanent. Or perhaps the opposite way around, they enter in untapped unless you control two or more snow permanents, after all it does fit the flavor of lands getting snowed-in to slow down the game once enough snow has accumulated.
Maybe dredge might want this to blank exile removal on their creatures and fill their own yard.
I like using it in my Athreos, God of Passage/Shadowborn Apostle EDH deck as a political way to knock a player out of a game (If an opponent looks like they’re about to win I can have another opponent agree to always return the apostles to my hand and edgewalker lets me recast them for free to mill out the player in the lead)
As for combo potential in modern that beats out the current combos in the format, I can’t say I can think of any off the top of my head. There are already free sac outlets in the format such as Viscera Seer and no really degenerate combo are played with that card.
Interesting, Gempalm Incinerator’s cycle ability stapled to a RB goblin with flash. Downside is it’s two colors, can be countered and doesn’t draw a card. Upside is that it can target planeswalkers, it gives a 1/1 goblin body for a surprise block and maybe 2 for 1, also it still pings for 1 on an otherwise empty board unlike the Incinerator since it will always add 1 to your current goblin count.
Oh, look Bolas is getting his spark stripped away and survives...
I call plothole on that.
Eh, I can see them eventually explaining this as “After the mending happened and stole planeswalkers of most of their god-like powers, Bolas cast some spells on himself to keep himself alive if his spark were to be lost entirely” or something like that.
Oh, that's just ADORABLE. Same goes for the new Pariah instant (Still can't believe that's a common).
I was thinking the same thing, gideon’s sacrifice lets you ignore the damage for an additional W. Also works well with Gideon Blackblade if you have it on the battlefield because the damage gideon’s sacrifice redirects to him will then be prevented (assuming it’s your turn).
so.... what happens with damage dealt after the dude I redirected the damage to dies?
I mean, if someone attacks me with a 3/3 double striker.
I let it through and cast this pointing to a 1/1.
what happens with the second damage part from the double striker?
is the damage dealt normally to me because there´s no more 1/1 to soak it or it would try to deal de damage to that 1/1 and "fizzle"?
The explanation text in parentheses under the rules text seems pretty clear “(if it’s still one the battlefield)”. I take it that the redirect stops the moment the chosen permanent leaves the battlefield. So you’d redirect the 3 first strike damage from the double striker to your 1/1 and then take the remaining 3 because you’re 1/1 had died and is no longer on the battlefield.
Not a bad card in limited if you’re walkers are at 1 and being attacked or if your opponent is about to kill one of your creatures. Heck, I remember winning some grindy games by casting altar’s reap in response to a removal spell and while this isn’t exactly the same, the fact that it’s repeatable is pretty good.
I don’t know if that’s ral zarek/ral, izzet viceroy or Teyo, the Shieldmage in the elderpell art. The clothing more resembles a Ral, but there’s no streaks of white hair on the walker’s head like Ral, the head more resembles Teyo to me. (Also bracers on the forearms are something neither walker has ever been depicted as wearing)
I wonder who are the two walkers in the foreground and background.

Goblin Welder also might be fun.
