Am I the only one thinking it's a bit anti climactic that Gideon went through a bunch of crap, got the Blackblade with whatever that ensues to his soul and his triumph is just killing a few eternals? But Chandra takes care of one of the guys pulling the strings? hehe
I feel bad for Gideon hehe.

"But his character arc!" "But the full set isn't out yet!" "But the full story isn't out yet!" I know I know, I would just like to see him jam the sword into Bolas or something hehe.

I think it's implied between the flavor text of the card and his presence in the Liliana trailer that he saves Liliana from Bolas.

Actually, looking at the art, I can see what throws you guys off. It's absolutely anatomically incorrect.

Look at where his butt is, that's usually attached to the tail, right below. How can his butt be up in the air like that while both of his legs are already bent above his elbows? That makes no sense.

    Ya that art is...wrong.

    That's not his butt.

    "Ajani's Shamemate".

Now this has to happen. It'll never leave my brain.

I'm just glad there's going to be 36 plainswalkers in this set. It's been too long.

Ugh. If this is just another tank/healer/dps game, they can keep it. I'd rather see this turn into something like No Man's Sky, where the main thrust is exploration instead of dungeon-crawls/raids.

posted a message on Alternate Art Fnm Promos Gone?
    Quote from SavannahLion »
Since the packs are replacing the FNM promo, does that mean stores will receive a one-fourth of the packs for the same number of cards as the FNM promo or the same number of packs resulting in four times the number of cards? The article makes it pretty clear the stores can do what they want with these packs so I can see a new level of sleaze where the store breaks the packs open and hands the individual cards out.

Why exactly would that be "sleaze"? I mean, it would suck in comparison to a store that just hands out the four-card packs, but if a store decides to extend their prize support, perhaps to run more events, what would be wrong about that? We still don't know exactly how this new system will work in terms of what a store gets compared to what they get now.

posted a message on No More MSRP
There's 36 packs. At $7 a pack, no LGS that wants to make a profit will sell these at $199.

Also, I'm not sure why the fear is that lack of MSRP would affect prices at the distributor level.

posted a message on Modern Horizons (Updated)
So the mothersite says $6.99 a pack for Magic Online packs. Should we assume this to be the same price (approx.) for physical packs as well???

I'm also looking forward to the trickle down effect for Pauper. New Modern commons that may have an impact in Pauper. Sounds interesting. Smile

If it's not $3.99 a pack, it's just Modern Masters with a different name. Yay.

If Serra is in the set, then the character on the left on the wall from the stream could be Yawgmoth.
    Overhyping in 3, 2...

He better not be a Planeswalker.

    He shouldn't be.

posted a message on B&R Announcement: Nexus of Fate banned from Standard, Arena only
They basically state in the article that they banned this because it makes MtG look bad as an E-Sport.

I don't believe in the whole death-of-paper-magic theory, but I dislike that they're making decisions about card design and game bannings based on the impact on digital formats and now apparently streaming. Part of the allure of the game, at least for me, is that these type of interactions CAN happen - it's why I love playing EDH. I don't know if I'm an outlier in that respect, but it sure seems like it.

posted a message on [WAR] The silence is starting to get deafening
I know from a retailer perspective, my boss is not happy about the lack of a release date. Makes it hard to plan other big events when they might be cancelled because WotC decides to finally say "Prereleases are weekend X". Longer it takes, the more annoying it is, and this is something we used to know a year or more ahead of time.

Don't really care about specific set details, because there's plenty of time for that. But at least give a release date.
