Quote from Gren08 »Create a limited print of a product, have a huge problem later. Honestly, the idea of having masterpieces in boosters was better.
Having the masterpieces in booster packs actually ended up hurting LGSs. Since so many boxes were purchased and opened in order to search for the masterpieces, and most of those were purchased at wholesale price online most likely, the value of singles in those sets were drastically reduced. That reduction of value for the regular cards incredibly hurt local stores, who make a ton of their money selling those singles to players.

I can understand and sympathize about the purchasing experience and being out of pocket for somewhere between 7 and 30 days as credit cards are reimbursed. However, anything apart from those two reasons are completely irrational.
At the end of the day, Wizards wanted to sell a collector's item in a limited quantity. They collaborated with one of the world's best e-commerce sites and the demand was just too high.
EBay has to learn a lesson and scale their infrastructure to meet demand in special cases like this.
Broken hearts and that is about it.

This really isn't eBay's fault.
It wasn't their infrastructure that oversold a specific quantity? And did so because scummy players were using bots and fake accounts to purchases? It's not as cut and dry as the "hate WOTC" crowd wants to believe.
Edit: saw this attached photo floating around Reddit. Want to be mad at someone? Be mad at these people, who cheated the system in order to prevent players like you from having a fair chance to buy.

I was also one of the "Lucky ones". So grats on getting a confirmed box from Ebay. That's good news.
I think a $20 gift card is a massive compensation though. I honestly can't believe that people actually expect more than that. I wouldn't complain about a free box topper as well as a $20 gift card. But I wouldn't expect it.
Yep, was about to write the same as you. It usually takes a few days to clear.

No problems, health and family first!
I think I'm at a point where I'm just going to leave it as it is now. I've picked up a few of the cards i didn't already have and will finish up the cube when it all arrives. So from this point on I'll just call it finished and continue to refine over time.
Thanks for your help. Hope you feel better soon.

We finally finished getting all our cards into Deckbox.org so we actually know what we have on hand. So we spent some time tonight looking at the cards we have and refining White and Blue in the cube. Cube tutor is updated.
New CMC:
White - 2.8
Blue - 3.2
I think white has turned out acceptable. But i'm more uncertain about blue. It's not really a colour i play so I just gave it my best :). I think we did an OK job of removing the chaff from both Blue and White.
We have at the same time increased the amount of cards in each colour to end up with a cube of 360 cards instead of the previous 280.
We'll do Black and Red tomorrow night and slowly work our way through the colours.
I might also mention that I picked up most of the lands in the list above, so they are on their way. Will take a week or so in shipping time.
