Progenitor Mimic is great for checking comprehension of copy abilities. Try blinking the original and cloning a token copy for extra obscure rule testing (and value!)
I can not believe this is still open. Are forum standards on the decline?
Under what standard do you think it should be closed? I'll happily disclose my source privately if a moderator wants to message me, but I won't openly out him on a public forum, potentially costing him the gig.
You want expand on that? I mean I do wonder if they will hire a cultural consultant or just mine Marvel Cinematic Universe Thor, Elder Scrolls Skyrim, and Game of Thrones. Norse Stuff has properly never been more popular in the States, well we might be a bit past the peak. What precise political correctness are you talking about? And please dont say too many women and not white people.
I was actually thinking about this yesterday and believe my friend may have been contacted for that reason. One of the potential challenges of making cards that are based on the Norse gods is that they are still followed modernly, unlike the Greco-Roman pantheon or Egyptian pantheon (save a few fringe "mystics"). Maybe Wizards worries about offending/angering the Asatru?
I wish I had more tid-bits to tease with, but the only other specific he mentioned was an Odin-analogue that made 2 bird tokens that allowed a Peek effect (which I realize just sounds like low-hanging fruit speculation).
It IS funny to see discussion of Game of Thrones on this thread, though. I'll explain why after this all comes to fruition.
According to a friend that has been tapped as a Norse mythology expert by WotC, there will be a Norse/viking inspired Magic set released in the next two years. Given what he told me regarding when he was contacted and what I know about set design schedules, 2020 seems more likely than 2019. New god creatures are all but a given.
Dominaria earlier this year and it's unexciting take on kicker inspired a couple of pushed kicker designs I thought would be appropriate to share in this thread.
Shocking Bolt R
Instant
Kicker R
Shocking Bolt deals 2 damage to any target. If Shocking Bolt was kicked, it deals 3 damage to that target instead.
Spikey Leak U
Instant
Kicker U
Counter target spell unless that spell's controller pays 1. If Spikey Leak was kicked, counter that spell unless it's controller pays 3.
You oppose religious tolerance and consideration from corporate entities?

He didn't mention signing an NDA and gave me permission to make this post, so I assume so.
