Created this budget bird deck years ago, primarily based on Soulcatcher and Soulcatchers' Aerie. Have added some enchantments and pricey artifacts (as well as Seaside Haven) that allow me to easily sacrifice creatures to pump up Soulcatcher and Aerie, while providing other benefits.
Deck is fun and pretty effective as is, but any tweaks to suggest? I'm mildly concerned that my non-creature:creature ratio is a bit too high, and can cut a few life-gaining enchantments such as Proper Burial or Angelic Chorus. Thanks!
Thanks. I agree, the flashback feature of Roar of the Wurm makes it a very enticing option for my deck. Between Faithless Looting, Surge of Strength, Fauna Shaman, Chandra Ablaze, and just attacking freely with Anger, Brawn and Genesis I figured I could get the latter 3 cards in the graveyard pretty quickly. Any suggestions for effective and cheap mana cost RG discard outlets, or maybe I go enchantment/artifact route?
Hey everyone, relatively new to the forum. I've gotten such great advice reading through some of these threads, and was hoping to get a bit of advice on a deck that I'm trying to revamp. A brief backstory:
I had a red/green deck from back in the day which I used as a combo direct damage (ie. Disintegrate, Rolling Thunder, Lava Burst) and big gun (ie. Craw Wurm, Fangren Hunter type creatures) deck...with some powerups included (ie. Giant Growth, Brute Strength). This deck got a bit stale (although it was quite effective), and one day I came across the incarnations Anger and Brawn. I was intrigued by their graveyard abilities and seeing how none of my friends were playing Grave Hate cards, I decided to incorporate them. However, I kept some of the direct damage and big creatures in, and really only incorporated two cards that helped me get Anger and Brawn into my graveyard: Wild Mongrel and Surge of Strength. Needless to say, the deck was too slow and ineffective, and I abandoned it years ago.
I came across the deck while trying to revamp an old landwalk deck and decided to work on it a bit as my playing partners still play no Grave Hate cards. I realized that I completely overlooked Genesis which I now plan to incorporate. I would say the goal of this deck for me is to obviously get Anger, Brawn and Genesis into the graveyard as quickly as possible either through discard cards or through combat, and then focus on bringing out creatures that I can pump up with Giant Growth-type instants and overwhelm opponents. Ideally, many of these cards could return to my hand after entering the graveyard from anywhere through Genesis, or entering the graveyard from the battlefield by their own inherent abilities (Shivan Phoenix). After an exhaustive search, I found quite a few cards that I feel could work, but was hoping someone could give some advice regarding the strategy in general, and if there are some solid cards that I am missing (*affordable* solid cards...Survival of the Fittest a little too costly) or should avoid. I am going to have to make some cuts obviously to get down to 60 cards. Appreciate all the help!
Hey guys/gals,
First post here, just really getting back into MTG after a good 10 year hiatus. I had an old islandwalk/swampwalk deck that I busted out from time to time, was really not all that effective but I loved Seasinger so much that I kept it around. It also was fun to annoy opponents by changing their land types. I decided to upgrade the deck finally, despite realizing that landwalk is by no means a popular deck theme anymore :/ By trying to add so many solid landwalk cards that came out after I left the game, I am having difficulty keeping the deck down to around 60 cards. Wanted to get some advice on cards I can cut out, cards to replace, cards I am missing and just general strategies overall. I did think about just switching to pure islandwalk or swampwalk, but I like the versatility of both colors together. Appreciate the help!
