  • posted a message on Tapping creatures for mana
If a card says "whenever you tap a creature for mana" it means "whenever you tap a creature as a cost to activate a mana ability" or it means "whenever you tap a creature for the sake of generating mana"?

For example... lets say I have and enchantment that says "whenever you tap a creature for mana, add an additional G".

If I tap Llanowar elves, it will generate GG, that's kind obvious.

If I control Heritage Druid and tap 3 elves... will it produce GGG, GGG + G or GGG + GGG ?

Thanks a lot for any help!

If my creature has protection from artifacts can it survive Engineered Explosives?

If my creature has protection from colorless can it survive Blast Zone?

    Thanks guys!

We've seen a two drop Defender Hexproof 0/3 in Sylvan Caryatid, a two drop semi-Hexproof 2/1 with Paradise Druid, I've been really wishing for a one drop weak (like 0/3) Hexproof with either a mild ETB ability or even Paradise Druid's semi-Hexproof status (which is fine once you make it vigilance). I can get that a one drop 1/1 Hexproof isn't what they want anymore, so is it possible to imagine what a 0/3 without being a mana dork at one drop would have to have to make it printable?

Great question! I’ll try to reach Mark Rosewater and ask it in Tumblr Smile

So... we received 4 auras... none of them with CMC 1 Uhh

    Soul-strike Technique
    Reprobation
    Face of Divinity
    Treefolk Umbra

None of them seem playable to me.. Maybe Force of Divinity as a "one of" maindeck. What disappoints me is the fact that, as a CMC3 aura homage to Daybreak Coronet, even though it has not the same limitations it isn't even close to be as strong as DC.

    Whats your opinion, guys?

I will update the op with the rest of the cards. They will all be visible in the Card image Gallery on the mothership as well

Someone told me that the cards not spoiled will be available tomorrow, 05/31, is it true? Thanks for your hard work!

Now that the spoiler season is gone... where can we find the non-spoiled cards of the set tomorrow? Scryfall?

I wonder if Smoke Shroud is a callback to Smoke? It fits in red if Spinehorn Minotaur is blue or white.

Smoke Shroud can only be white or red. Spinehorn Minotaur, by its name, doesn’t seem to be blue or white.

Smoke was rare in its time... but it’s still possible as uncommon.

Smoke Shroud sounds like something in the Blinding Fog realm.

Smoke implies fire though. Makes me wonder if it's a GR card designed in the same style as Twisted Reflection - a G card with a mode that makes it better if R is spent. Like an R Overload, Entwine, Kicker, or Flashback cost.

There are already tons of “fog” effect cards in Modern... would they really waste one slot with a card like this? If yes... it will be disappointing.

I imagined something like a smoke grenade's kind of thing, maybe related to the ninja stuff... giving protection/evasion to your stuff in the battlefield. However, you may be right... the name kinda sounds like some stupid fog effect Frown

From the article that Trifas linked, here are the potential spots for the name yet unrevealed cards based on draft archetypes and names:
Warteye Witch: 115 or 151-154 (some goblin)
Smoke Shroud: 110, 147, or 214 (214 is most likely given below) (Gruul uncommon?)
Throatseeker: 110 (sounds like a vampire)
Ninja of the New Moon: 59-62, possibly 99
Lancer Sliver: 17, 18, 133 (white First Strike sliver?)
First Sliver's Chosen: 8-9 (9 likely, given below, could be our Hexproof sliver???)
    Soulherder: 30
    Face of Divinity: 8
    Spinehorn Minotaur: 147
    Excavating Anurid: 163

Smoke Shroud... by its name, I would not be impressed if this Is a new Sterling Grove kind of card hahaha

Once it's uncommon, I'm hoping Sterling Grove will be reprinted Smile

Oh, that'd be nice. The lack of (non-aura) enchantment tutors in Modern really perturbs me. Blue keeps on getting its artifact tutors (the * mage series, Whir of Invention), all enchantments get are Idyllic Tutor, which isn't even that good, nobody plays it competitively, and it STILL has climbed over a $30 price tag because it didn't get reprinted in ANY of the Masters sets.

Idyllic Tutor is damn too slow for modern. I really do not understand why it’s so expensive. We really need Sterling Grove or Enlightened Tutor... both are still possible.

I'd love Sterling Grove in this set, but while it hasn't been crunched out, I'm not very optimist considering the color pair balancing. In fact, with the new Heliod Land they just printed, it may be a bit too strong for Modern. But I'll keep dreaming with it!

I understand your point, but don't think Sterling Grove is too strong for Modern. The card is balanced because it makes you decide between "protection" to your enchantments or a way to tutor your enchantment (that won't have shroud). We know that in Modern time is everything. To make a combo where you keep bringing back Sterling Grove with the new land and tutoring other enchantments you would probably have to make an entire deck to support it. Many other powerful combos run faster and are totally viable in Modern (Academy ruins and the cards that tutor artifacts are there to prove it)... I really can't see why the new land and Sterling Grove can't coexist.

About the color balance of the set... I agree with you. However, we, as bogle players, have to keep dreaming that something useful for us will show up among the cards not spoiled yet.

168/249 cards spoiled. In the list, just 1 more spoiler for today. There will really be more than 70 cards spoiled tomorrow? 05/30 is the last spoiler day.

The design of this card is so boring... useless card for constructed. Who the hell will play this when you have Path to Exile? This has problems to cast (once request a snow land) and is fragile on the field. This really will se play in draft during 1 month... and will never ever see play again. Chained to The rocks, considering the existence of shock lands, is ten times better than this card.

I’m a Bogles player and this f****** aura pisses me off. This is garbage... and it’s a RARE! C'mon... give auras some love and respect!

    Quote from Illinest »
In Bogles this would deal with problem creatures and add to the enchantment count but it wouldn't necessarily be the first enchantment on the list to get removed if your opponent draws a disenchant.

No, it won’t be a good card for bogles. It’s a removal that has sorcery speed, that requests a ridiculous snow land and that can be destroyed. It’s total garbage compared to Path to Exile.
