I've put together a cube featuring only cards using the old style card frame and I'm trying to prepare for odd interactions that may occur. If you activate a Ghitu Encampment then activate Zelyon Sword to give it +2/+0 will it continue to receive the bonus if you activate Ghitu Encampment on another turn assuming you don't untap the sword during your untap step?

  • posted a message on Standard is terrible right now.
Am I alone in this sentiment? I feel like the insane power level of creatures and planeswalkers in standard right now makes the game ultimately not fun. Permanents under 4 cmc will literally win you the game or provide so much value that whoever is behind in the first 3 turns is probably losing. I'm not really sure how to fix it except to say stop the crazy powerful early creatures and stop printing planeswalkers, period. I liked them when I first started using them as a niche thing. But they have become the focus of the game so much so that they can completely change the flow of the game. Adding passive abilities to the already strong array of card advantage/bonus information/removal/creature producing abilities planeswalkers have was detrimental to the game IMO. The worst of which is Teferi, Time Raveler. I like to think of myself is a pretty even keeled person, but seeing this card on turn 3 and again on turn 4 and again on turn 9 is rage inducing. I feel like the integrity of the game has been compromised for the sake of "creative planeswalker abilities." Also where there only u/g players at the R&D meeting when Uro, Titan of Nature's Wrath was conceived?

Black just sucks right now. Just play mono red if you want to win quick or some version of green/blue/X if you want to win eventually.

  • posted a message on Why does blue have the best aggro deck, the best control deck and the best combo deck?
LoL. Learn to play against blue. Learn to draw more cards than me and cast spells that can't be countered. Learn to draw cards at instant speed. Learn to interact with my non-interactive win conditions. Don't cast spells on your first few turns so when I get to my planeswalker or finisher creature or mil enchantment I can just counter the spells you use to try to deal with them. Thanks I'll get right on that.

Also not a new player. I've been playing on and off since the mid 90s. I'm new to the forums because my frustration with blue on arena had reached a boiling point. Blue is just better in standard right now. By a LOT.

I agree with the original poster. The Mythic Championship seems to back that up. Blue appeared in 7 of the top 8 decks. Just look at the deck lists and tell me there is not something wrong with standard magic. Red also has pretty dang good card draw and removal to go along with aggressive creatures.

Blue allows you to negate much of the luck in the game also. By letting you cycle through substantially more of your cards you don't have to rely on that lucky top deck to survive another turn.

We just have to voice our opinions without losing our tempers and hopefully some of the other colors in the wheel will see some love soon. I play mostly Black/White myself and I find it pretty frustrating right now.

Did Wizards just hire a bunch of blue players to be on R&D? Or maybe the walls in the R&D office are painted blue (and maybe highlighted red and green). But I can guarantee those walls are not black and or white. Blue is everywhere in arena. It must be in 90% of decks I run into. Blue aggro, blue combo, blue control blue midrange. Blue Blue Blue Blue Blue Blue. Blue magic is just CANCER. Blue players get to play whenever they want and have to commit nothing to the board. Why is Orzhov even a guild on Ravnica? It's completely worthless. Blue mixed with any other color in the wheel just does whatever the f*** it wants. Why is diabolic edict considered too strong of a card to reprint but Counterspell isn't. I know technically wizard's retort costs three mana, but lets be real here there a wizard on every street corner in Ravnica and that card is never payed full price for. Why is Sign in Blood considered too strong of a card? Blue, Red and Green all have insane card draw in standard. Why does black and white not get "this card can't be countered"? With the exception of Chromium, the Mutable, which is technically a Blue card, every other color in the wheel has a card in standard that can't be countered. Why? Because reasons. Please WoTC some players do not enjoy blue magic.

Hydroid Krasis and Frilled Mystic, just wow. We get a Planeswalker that literally does nothing, thanks.

You have seven posts at the moment. Of them, 5 seem to me to be unconstructive complaints. I invite you to post your actual deck and ask for help to make it better. Failing that, I feel that it is my duty to remind you that the Forum Rules require that posts be constructive. Future unconstructive complaints may be responded to more strongly. - hoser2

So years ago when people were playing Obzedat, Ghost Council with Whip of Erebos you could use Obzedat's end of turn ability to not lose it to the end of turn requirement on Whip. I believe this is the same situation here. I return a creature from my graveyard with Isareth the Awakener. It now has a corpse counter on it. I use Justiciar's Portal to flicker the returned creature. Since it is not "anywhere else" the creature should return to the battlefield right? Can anyone confirm this?

  • posted a message on [GRN] Good deck options for beating UX control?
Funny that the answer to beat blue control is blue tempo. Blue magic is actually cancer right now. Arena is one giant deathball of blue/red blue/black blue/white and even blue/green. I've started just leaving matches when i see the first blue mana source on the other side. It's so completely not enjoyable. Just slow grindy cancer. I like to play black/white myself and it just can not compete with any combination of blue/X. Awful, just awful. I'm not even writing complete sentences right now because the rage from blue control decks is blocking the other parts of my brain. I've never felt the need to ever post on forums for anything really. But the state of blue magic right now has brought me to it. It's infuriating. I've got about 17 years magic experience so it's not being new for those of you who might be thinking that.
