Someday, people will master the rare skill of taking pictures without glare.

At this point it's a tradition.

Does it? Eldritch Evolution needed it because you could have searched for creatures that let you recast it from the grave and you end up getting a creature 4+ or 6+ from what you started with. This instead goes down, and the creatures that let you easily recast from the grave have high enough CMCs that it wouldn't matter by the time you could do it.

Absolutely it does. Grabbing two creatures to the field is not something I want seeing chained by grabbing Eternal Witness, Archaeomancer, Anarchist, etc.

3 mana is probably too low. This is more a collected company so four is probably a safer cost.

I think it also requires an exile after use clause like Eldritch Evolution.

I can't speak much on this.

The effect is punishing, and there are creative ways around it (such as Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth).

But if the intention is mass expanding Desert subtype lands, maybe what really wanted to be done here was that:

Each land is a Desert in addition to its other types and has " tap symbol : Add C to your mana pool."

I want the sense of unending and treacherous desolation that takes its toll on you without care. An Enemy which can only be fought with ingenuity, foresight, and razor-honed bravery.

This seems too strong as a three drop as is, compare it with Eldritch Evolution.

Promise of is fantastic, great concept and flavor for a resurrection faction. Unstable Stormkin tickles me as well.

The idea was to make a "basic" Desert, so removing the 'any number' text is antithetical to the goal.

    Ver. 1
    Dunes
    Land - Desert
Whenever Dunes becomes tapped, it deals 1 damage to you.
T: Add one mana of any type a Desert you control could produce.
A deck can have any number of cards named Dunes.

    Ver. 2
    Dunes
    Land - Desert
T: Add one mana of any type a Desert you control could produce. Dunes deals 1 damage to you.
A deck can have any number of cards named Dunes.

    Six AM day after Christmas
I throw some clothes on in the dark
    The smell of cold
    Car seat is freezing
    The world is sleeping
    I am numb

Up the stairs to her apartment
She is balled up on the couch
Her mom and dad went down to Charlotte
They're not home to find us out

    And we drive
Now that I have found someone
    I'm feeling more alone
    Than I ever have before

    She's a brick and I'm drowning slowly
Off the coast and I'm headed nowhere
    She's a brick and I'm drowning slowly

They call her name at seven-thirty
I pace around the parking lot
Then I walk down to buy her flowers
And sell some gifts that I got

    Can't you see
It's not me you're dying for?
    Now she's feeling more alone
    Than she ever has before

    She's a brick and I'm drowning slowly
Off the coast and I'm headed nowhere
    She's a brick and I'm drowning slowly

    As weeks went by
It showed that she was not fine
They told me "Son it's time to tell the truth"
And she broke down and I broke down
'Cause I was tired of lying

    Driving back to her apartment
    For the moment, we're alone
Yeah, she's alone and I'm alone
    And now I know it

    She's a brick and I'm drowning slowly
Off the coast and I'm headed nowhere
    She's a brick and I'm drowning slowly...

Well, the new card is better for 5 mana as mass manipulation can't touch that mana cost. Manip is better at 6, as the delta vs your opponent is +1/-1. New card gets even at 8, with +2/-2 for manip and +4 for this. At 11, the new cards is better as you get 9 copies. Of course, all this assumes that leaving your opponent creatures to them is ok (for this) and that you don't want to choose your own creatures, for which manip is useless.

So, err, mass manip has corner cases where it might be better, but it is very situational. I'm not even sure why I'm spending time analyzing this.

It's not a question of arithmetic, it's ontological.

Way too many X in this cost. Mass Manipulation was way stronger.

What kind of comparison is this?

No, I literally cannot differentiate your opinion from drug-addled ramblings. I expect you to start explaining how much sense phantom time makes next.

The Marvel Partnership was only just announced. It's been in the works for a while, likely even longer than the reveal of Lorcana (which was only announced last year).

WotC wouldn't make money from the sale of Lorcana.

Disney didn't pay WotC to use the Marvel license.

It would be some sort of mutually beneficial contract where MtG profits for the set are split, and maybe a base fee from WotC.

Universe Beyond is built with the idea that "This will bring more people into magic, justifying a small cut to profit."

It's not trying to punish boycotters. They don't give a *****. Boycotters can play One Piece, or Flesh & Blood, or Legends of Runeterra, or Hearthstone, or Yu-Gi-Oh, or Pokemon, or the new Star Wars TCG coming out or any of the thousands of card games that have or will exist. For now, MtG is King of the Castle, and not a single one has managed to dethrone it.
MTG still King of the Castle? Maybe If Wizards of the Coast / Hasbro cared as much about the Competitive aspect of the game as much as the Casual aspect with Commander. Paper Standard is too far gone to save at this point to inject new blood at Local Game Stores (LGSs). Arena is killing Local Game Stores (LGSs). Paper Magic can't survive on Commander alone. Wizards of the Coast HAS to do something to make the game appealing without having to rely on popular IP crossovers to boost sales whether it be a new TV show, anime, movie, etc. based on the original Magic: The Gathering story line. Hasbro should give Wizards of the Coast the budget to make this happen but they won't because they only care about maximizing their profit margins and shareholders.

So instead of investing resources on their own IP with Magic: The Gathering, Wizards of the Coast would rather let the companies behind the IP's they crossover with do the talking for them without putting in their own effort BECAUSE of how Hasbro won't give them any breathing room to do what they want to do with Magic: The Gathering as a brand. That is why Universes Beyond exists as it does right now. Hasbro has got Wizards of the Coast in a position to where they have little to no control over Magic: The Gathering in terms of marketing their own brand other than designing new cards and releasing product for Hasbro. There actually is a demographic of Magic players that exist who enjoy the original Magic: The Gathering story line.
