a question as you do once you drop it with nahiri, how do you lower it again if you discard it and do not shuffle like emrakul?
In all of my playtesting I really only get to ult Nahiri once. The card advantage that Griselbrand gives me more than makes up for the fact that Nahiri's ult is a once-per-game thing. I have yet to lose a G1 where I bring out Griselbrand and get to activate his ability.
I'm also wondering what Griselbrand is used for in this deck.
I went this route because I completely believe that Ensnaring Bridge is absolutely amazing in this current meta (so many creatures) and Nahiri is a fantastic PW to have. I wanted to capitalize on her ult when possible so I came to the conclusion that Griselbrand was the absolute best creature to summon with Nahiri. His pay7-draw7 ability means he will get to attack, do 7 damage, gain us 7 life, and allow us to draw even more. As a bonus any Karn construct tokens I made are most likely enabled to attack as well. Since I run a more lockdown-style prison deck less dependent on wraths it means that he draws me more lock pieces and PWs. Whatever condition my opponent was in before Griselbrand is now made that much worse.
My answer to the fact that Emrakul is a nonbo is to replace her with Griselbrand. Nahiri is a phenomenal filter/control PW and getting an incidental Griselbrand is just icing. In games where my Bridge is useless I board in Emrakul and swap Bridge as necessary.
But the big piece that I think helps the most: Karn, Scion of Urza. If you're churning out UrzaVoice tokens like crazy, the opponent blowing up the Bridge becomes a liability for them. As a bonus it gives us more control since we can manipulate our hand size to allow our stuff to attack.
I've had moderate success but I haven't tested the deck in its current incarnation where I went from 2 to 4 Karn. I'll report back when I've had more playtime on this list.
