I have to make some changes cause I don't have Klothys, Questing Beast and the 4th Gather the pack. Instead I'll put Hazoret, Chromanticore and a Lightning Axe and we'll see. This wednesday we have a small modern event and we'll see.
That would be great. Tomorrow I have a tournament but I will play Gifts Storm. There are few delvers and gds and against that meta I'm a hude underdog. But taking turns is always an option.
I'we played several games against delver and gds and those matchups are disgusting. I have a feeling that i have less than 10% chances to win.
I saw a version of fires without the cryptics and with izzet charms and spell pierce. Maybe that version could perform much better.
Beside that I'm thinking about a jeskai version with teferi time reveler...

Next sunday I'm going to a modern tournament,a small local one with around 20 players, and I will play the LSV version with Fires of Invention.
Yesterday we playtested a little and I had a lot of problems with a UR Delver deck.
So I'm not sure what's the right SB strategy: to sb in the counterspells to help my fires resolve or the bolts and abrades for his delvers and pyromancers?
The Delver guy said he thinks the second option is better but i believe it's the first one.
I'm playing comune instead of gather the pack cause I don't have gather the pack at the moment. I agree it's a much better card.
I don't like Incubation because it puts the card on the bottom. But I'll give it a try in some playtest.
I'm looking at the eldraine spoiler and Thrill of Possibility looks interesting,it's an instant.
I'll have a modern tourrnament in 2 weeks and I will try a couple of grapples and corpse churns instead of the looting,and I will come back with the results.
Finished 3-2 on this tournament. I put 4 Commune with the gods instead of the lootings and put out some creatures to put in Chancellor of the dross.
Started with 0-2 against a Jund and some kind of Saheeli combo. I was drawing very bad, 4 commune with the gods ended in just 1 creature in the graveyard. After that I destroyed a grixis control deck,a burn and elves.
Here are my thoughts:
- A huge mistake was to put out 3 bomat couriers and 1 Chromanticore because Traverse was parcticly useless. I will definitely put them back and cut something out.
- The biggest problem of the banning of looting is not the card draw and filling the graveyard but mainly the discard. I couldn't win without Lotleth Troll in play. I will definitely put the 4th copy in the deck.
- For the same reason Cathartic reunion is a lot better card than Commune with the gods
- I'll probably play 3 reunions and 3 Grapple with the past, for a total of 10 gy fillers, plus the grapple is an instant (othervise grisly salvage is the only instant)
- I think 4 Traverses are too much, I'll cut 1 out
I believe deathtouch is quite irrelevant for this deck. Hexproof would be a lot better.
But we are not looking for new creatures,we need some good gy fillers. Too bad Once upon a time doesn't fill the gy,it would be a great card...this way is just good...
Even the gatherer says it's weird.
I still think the last line on the Lion is unnecessarily.
I know but every creature sacrifice to get mana uses the stack. Or doesn't?
What is the difference between the Lion and for example Wild Cantor? Can I voidslinme the Cantor's ability?
What would be the differenece between that card and the same card without the last sentence (Activate only as an instant.)?

I was looking for a deck to play, had no luck with my UR Storm and I think I'll play Soulflyer again!

I am plaing it and I'm doing pretty well. The worst matchups are agro-control-tempo decks like UR Delver and GDS.
In your opinion what's the best sb strategy against those decks? TITI?

T1 Crab, T2 fetch and 8 cards in the gy for a nice fat Soulflayer on T2.
