    With Urza, Lord High Artificer, he has the ability "Tap an untapped artifact you control: Add[mana][/blue]". So on turn 1, the player plays an island. Then the player plays a bunch of 0 drop artifacts. In my case, I believe my opponent played a Sol Ring on turn one along with other 0 cost artifacts. He also played Mox Opal. Turn two, another island. Bust out Urza and then tap just two artifacts for [mana][/blue] and then play Winter Orb.

    I have let my friend know I don't like playing it, especially since I play casually and his deck is for cEDH. He tries to argue it isn't that broken but I think that is just because he spent so much money on the deck. Although a good starting hand is necessary for this to occur, with Urza's artifact into mana ability and the abundance of 0 to low costing artifacts (that also synchronize with blue so well), it is easy to massively mana ramp early. Also, even with artifact hate, if he can shut of the game early, I'm basically just saying "pass turn" on my turn if I don't draw that specific artifact removal card as well if I even have the mana to use it.

    I hate the new Urza, Lord High Artificer. Will he ever get banned as a commander? I can't stand him. He is so easy to build around. He can mana ramp insanely. He can also lock out players very early in the game making the game very un-fun and un-interactive. I played a person who got him out on turn two along with Winter Orb. On turn two I'm already locked out of the game and he has a large sum of mana available. It just creates games that I want to scoop right away as well as eventually not play.

    What is Duel Commander? Is that just 1 vs 1 Commander? I generally just play in a small play group of about 4 people at a friends house or I play against one of those friends. I thought there was a Banned as Commander list for cards like that elf that generates too much mana quickly. Sorry for my lack of knowledge with card names and rules.

    I have a Geist of Saint Traft card that I'd like to use as a commander for an EDH deck because I want to play blue/white. However, I've read some things that states he is banned as a commander, especially in 1 VS 1 commander. To me, this sounds silly. I understand he is a powerful commander with his hexproof and angel making ability. However, I feel like other commanders are much more threatening, such as the new overly powered Urza, Lord High Artificer from Modern Horizons (I played against a dude that had Urza out on turn two along with winter orb, locking the entire game out on turn two. Super unfun/overpowered).

    Any clarification on this would be great. I would love to make a Saint Traft EDH.

    Three thoughts:

    1) How about an "un" themed Commander set. Make 4 decks each featuring Commanders and cards from all the "un" sets such as unglued, unstable, etc. Not all 100 cards would need to be "uns". Fill in the blanks with needed reprints

    2) Make 5 mono colored decks focused around needed reprints. Make a red deck with needed red reprints. Make a green with needed green reprints. Etc.

    3) Why focus on a theme? Why not just have random decks for fun. Maybe another Planeswalker deck along with a tribal, mechanic based(infect/deathtouch), and something else?

    What commanders are banned as Commanders in 1v1 Commander? Is 1v1 different than Duel Commander? If so, what is the difference?
    What commanders are banned as Commnaders in Multiplayer Commander?

    Also, do these two formats have their own banned list?

    I've tried looking it up online and find it very confusing because I am getting conflicting information or unclear information. I'll also read an entire list only to realize at the end that the list is only applied to Online Commander (I am only interested in the paper format).

    I really want to make a Geist of Saint Traft deck for 1v1 but believe it is banned.
