The reason to buy these is to be able to create a fun gaming environment without drafting, so you get straight into the playing.

Think of it like paying extra for express delivery.

If you don't want to play with these cards in this format then I can understand that you don't care about this aspect and think you are getting ripped off. But, these packs are made specifically for mixing with another and playing. If that isn't what you want to do then buy cards in the format the does suit you, like singles. In these packs, the lands are not worthless, they are being paid for as part of the experience.

This product is perfect for me. A couple times a year I go away on holiday with friends and we play magic for a week solid.

The guild decks were a great set, as they were interesting but constructed and fair against each other. Commander has proven overwhelming for people who (other than me) don't play that often.

Draft felt the obvious answer when there wasn't any intro decks/ themed decks/ enough of them for how many of us were getting together.

They problem with draft though is that half the people would conclude drafting and say ugh, I don't know what I'm doing, and as darklingscribe2 mentions, my friends would then lose and blame their drafting ability.

Not to mention, not everyone arrives at the same time, so having to wait an extra day or two to open packs (or trying to figure out some other way for it to be a fair game when someone arrives towards the end of the trip and wants to play cards) is a problem.

With this set, I can buy a box, my friends and I get two (maybe three to mix it up) boosters, complete with the thrill of opening packs, whenever I want, and without any of the worry that the deck that they build is going to be rubbish for the next weeks with of gaming.

It's the perfect casual (because edh is too complicated for genuine casual play) multiplayer product and I wish they were coming out in time for our next magic playing trip.

If you're complaining about lands in the packs and questioning the value of what's inside Vs the cost of the packet, then you are not the target audience for this product. I'll happily pay extra per booster if it means, with people who don't know the card pool as well as I do, that we can just open the packs and play a fun fair game. Hell I wish that Wizards made one of these for every standard set rather than collector boosters.

I love that Wizards is trying to make products to cater to a wider audience, my friends and I are going to have a blast with these.

Hey, my friends and I go away on holidays to the country and just play magic solidly for a week.

We started with intro decks, then moved to planeswalker decks, but there's too many of us and they aren't released fast enough.

We got battle bond and drafted it (we mostly play two headed giant) and that was a lot of fun. Next up we got the ravnica guild kits and they also worked well for our casual group (games go long and those giant mana hungry spells generally get cast).

There are 6+ of us this time though, so allegiance guild kits are not applicable.

My question is, should we just draft allegiance or will it mix suitably with guilds packs?
