Also, at what point would we play Hardened Scales now? Most of our stuff is getting counters it seems like.
The problem with hardened is that early game it delays the plan for one turn, but if you wait too long to play it, no much benefit to gain. I only see it working in a mostly one drop critters shell - that way it works t2 without strategy hesitation. 3 drops are still possible, but very few.
However, HS is a pretty bad topdeck still.
At this point, between bojuka bog, Extirpate, Surgical Extraction, nihil spellbomb and a few other fringe (that 1B instant, exile 4 transmute 1BB could be interesting somewhere?), black seems like the best sideboard color easily.
Leyline is gg when it lucks upon hand, but i don't really care for mulligan into win if it's not combo (and even then..
eh)
this is another debate, but i, for one, find banning anything extremely short-sighted, ugly and unecessary. there's not a SINGLE card in the modern banlist that couldn't be restricted (which, as i said before many times, is much more elegant). chrome mox wouldn't break anything as a one of, nor would any other of these cards. meanwhile, they would surely improve strategies and add an interesting deckbuilding option to the cardpool.
banning should only come for inevitable stuff, but hardly anything becomes inevitable as a one of without ridiculously efficient tutors and done under modern's overall design constraints.
Here we have a hogaak or whatever the new guy is called player. Nice one mate. Enjoy your 75% winrate while it lasts.
not to burst ur bubble, but no, i don't play it or wish to as i'm not particularly fond of the playstyle/play patterns (lantern lover here, u can deduce what i tend to like from that). but hogaark itself is one of the cards i liked the most on MH.
as for the banned vs. restricted cards, anyone wishing to debate the subject can shoot me a pm, as to not derail the thread.

This page is beautiful.
While i don't agree that modern is a gy format, it's refreshing to see most discussing its state as inseperable from creative restrictions for deckbuilding, which is not "unfair," "unhealthy" or any other nonsense.
Great article, thanks for sharing. Very interesting but this is actually the FIRST event this new bridgevine list was legal in so I feel it is FAR to early to consider or predict a ban. We should continue to watch it closely and make SB changes as we feel necessary at this point.
noooo didn't you hear? Modern is eternally broken, it's the graveyard format! get with the program! no such reasonable talk will be tolerated.
as always, one tournament, a few screenshots (foh) and some people find it easier to whine than to strategize properly. "but i can't play my favorite deck in the way iiiii like to play, no fair!!" Warning issued for trolling. --CWP
Word is, the deck isn't losing to leyline anymore either.
I don't know how it plays but from what I'm seeing not even a turn 3 board wipe is sufficient, as not only are you facing 20 power, you are milled out.
you don't know how it plays but you're here spewing paranoid panic nonetheless
I may be way off, but since lists are going the Ug route, wouldn't Plow Under be worth a test? On a stable situation it's two Time Warps for the price of one. Worst case, it buys good time.
it uses hogaak brodge from below and altar of dementia to have a combo kill outside the combat step. Look at Kanister streaming the deck it seems pretty broken imo. Every single obnoxious deck that isnt Tron is centered on abusing faithless looting.
I've seen these kinds of comments and assessments for literal years. A recent comparison was last summer when numerous authors, players, and posters in the older version of this thread (including players who rarely ever raise ban alarm) brought up the same fears about Bridgevine. Like basically every episode of ban fear and ban mania before, that too passed with no significant metagame impact and, obviously, no banning. The overwhelming majority of such fears don't pan out because Modern is a remarkably robust and adaptive format. Similarly, there is significant incentive for authors, commenters, streamers, pros, and even average community members to hype up these kinds of decks for clicks, views, upvotes, reputation, accolades, etc. Don't buy into this hype. Wait for results and trust that the overwhelming majority of such fears will be unfounded, the deck in question actually isn't that good/broken, and the metagame will adjust to most emerging strategies.
Yup, it is tap = gires
You are correct

i'm really happy that there's folks like u in this thread
i just wish those that love to hold onto that big throbbing banhammer would make the effort to follow this advice
cause it's a marketing dpt concern
even though they could make piles more of money if it was attached to decent worldbuilding and art direction.
but no,
surveys is ALL u need
