Not that hard to get the ball rolling, especially with a Myr Battlesphere.

Whelp, the low end prices for Mox Amber have already doubled on MKM.
Seems speculators are really betting on these planeswalkers being anything near playable.

There is still hope that Garruk will be a 37th planeswalker as a buy a box promo. Or in the inevitable War of the Spark, Mythic edition.

Unacceptable: Garruk trying to hold Liliana and strike her with the dagger-fist thing he has, gets reversal'd by Liliana as her zombies hold him down as she gets away.
That's because some imbecils saw Garruk's knee between Liliana's slightly open legs and thought "That's sexual assault! REEEEEEE!".
I remember what I thought back then and it has changed in recent times: Looks like violence to me, but not of the other variety. Its basically an unfair rep he gets while the same people ignore the other innumerable things that could be considered questionable and morally bankrupt.

Acceptable: Garruk summons a giant troll-beast creature and has it attack Liliana, which knocks her through a stone pillar and causing the pillar to break, Liliana immediately gets up and puts on the chain veil to channel necromatic energies and avoiding Garruk's axe swings, Liliana then curses him and escapes.

Unacceptable: Garruk trying to hold Liliana and strike her with the dagger-fist thing he has, gets reversal'd by Liliana as her zombies hold him down as she gets away.

Also a -6 for just a Flame Slash is kind of wonky, even for a common planeswalker. Would personally make it a -3 and have it be a Roast. Because of Gurmag Angler.

if you want a use for colorless mana, what about a Gemstone Array? Generate at least CC then spend both for red mana .

Here is a theory that probably answer the lingering question.

Probably the other planeswalker aren't technically part of the block but rather release like treasure and expedition.

So they are probably just reprints instead.
Unlikely. All 36 each have a new card.

Won't hear me complain about Urza's Saga as I agree that it conveyed that sense of planeswalking very well. Also that I will agree on a follow-up story with 2020 since it will be post-war of the spark.

I'd personally prefer to see a single set get made with the planeswalkers actually doing their thing of planeswalking a lot and have a narrative tied with that. Think the new commander cards with every Commander 201X expansion but it actually trying to tell a story. It seems like the right sort of story to tell right after the 'War of the Spark'. Such as the story using a single character, lets say Elspeth, and linking Lorwyn and Theros and Kamigawa together. Using the numbered story card concept they played with in Amonkhet to signify when a character would arrive to or leave from a plane. But that is just me spitballing a concept.
That would make pretty much every set into a Core Set narratively speaking, leaving little room for exploration of new planes and events happening in those planes. I can't say I like the idea outside of the actual core sets.
Not quiet, 2015, origins, and 2019 were rare in that they actually did try to tell a story while being core sets. Origins being about the core five gatewatch members we knew them when they were at a younger age. 2019 being Nicol Bolas, his sibling, and also about Vivien Reid. 2015 being the story with Garruk after Innistrad as he was still being affected by the curse.

It depends on how they weave the story. As if we want to actually get into the truth about each set, most of it is just props and scenes unrelated to the actual story we are meant to be following. That said story being on about thirty cards or less while you are bombarded with random things. You can still tell a story through plane hopping, but then the story is less about the geography and more about who we follow and where they go.

Say for example we could travel to Segovia. What is Segovia? Its a miniature sized plane that is mostly filled with water. That the biggest creature on this plane is a Segovian Leviathan. That anyone who travels to this plane also is shrunk down to fit that size. Its pretty much a novelty plane and might not work for the shrinking factor if it were to get a set, as if everything is small then nothing is small due to perspective and the inhabitants building buildings for their size. The only way it might work for the fact its mostly an underwater plane, but remember the biggest thing is the Segovian Leviathan which means everything else needs to be smaller than a 3/3 with islandwalk. So what do we do with such a plane to travel to for example? The simple solution is a brief visit to it so that the novelty doesn't wear off and the design space isn't constrained by it but also tying it into the story being woven throughout the set in our hero(s) adventure via planeswalking.

That many planes have this sort of problem and only the ones that can be the most fleshed out from an aesthetic/lore/gameplay ways are what we actually get.

Yeah if they don't kill Bolas, what happens next with him? He goes off to lick his wounds and start his schemes from scratch? Bolas loses his spark and rapidly goes back to the nearly senile dragon he had been on Alara? And what do they do with him if he is still alive. Cage him up? Have him flee to some secret planar bunker? Be slayed by someone off-screen like if Garruk shows up? If they fall back on a Xanatos Gambit, then beating or killing is practically impossible, because there is no chink in Bolas's figurative or literal armor.

Also with Elspeth it seems, how to put this, bad if she were out of Erebos's clutches already.

Because on one hand its fine that Sorin escaped from his rock prison because he was only partially trapped in it and any number of things could of happened to free him, like a random angel attacking him and breaking the rock on accident instead, or that after enough struggling and vampire strength from pain and near-madness he just broke it. That its not likely in the next five years we would have returned to Innistrad.

But Elspeth escaping from Erebos is a more important story element for if they were to return to Theros. That there is the possibility of them using the original myth of Persephone and Hades, with Elspeth and Erebos filling those roles respectively, and that Elspeth might be able to return to the land of the living for a temporary time.

Also that girl in the stained-glass has more of a reddish/blondish hair than Elspeth who has dark brown or black hair. Also I would expect to see at least a gold mask somewhere on her person if they wanted her to look human and relatable enough while dodging a bullet with the Theros Underworld System for appearance sake.

Maybe Garruk in Core 2020 will be a super-good PW counter, showing up to kill of the PW meta.

They could let Standard have a few months of superfriends and then Big G could bring the beatstick to all the weaklings who think they’re cool.
2020: Garruk Boogaloo. Sequel to 2015: Garruk Requiem.

But who knows what they got planned. Maybe they move the planeswalkers down to the rare category there as well, well excpet for Garruk.
