Congrats on the finish. Hope you are also successful in the future.
Are you considering to include Barkhide Troll?
I personally would cut those 2 Tuskers and 2 Pelt Collectors from your list for a full playset, he seems really strong.

You are right of course. Currently trying out just 1x Worship in MB. It does win some games pretty much immediately.

What do you guys think of the new Vivien? +1 pump with trample, -3 deal damage (better than fight effect), -5 occasional tutor.
    Would definitely test her.

This one just got spoiled. What do you think? Maybe 2 copies in heavy fetchland lists?

Huh, the Rest in peace art looks like being set in Theros.
Maybe he did indeed planeswalked to Theros in the last minute?
Shielded by Faith True Conviction is hin fighting eldrazis aparently SbF is on Innistrad(?) and TC in Zendikar.

Maybe he did, but only after the war was over since Bolas baited all planeswalkers to Ravnica and created an aura around it that disabled their planeswalking ability.
Or maybe his spirit is attached to Theros. There is a card called Heartwarming Redemption, on which he clearly is with his people in the afterlife.

Am taking the deck to a paper 1k on April 20th, so we'll see how that goes.

We wish you good luck and hope you will evaluate your tournament experience here later.

In a red splash Sarkhan Vol is strictly better than the new Samut. In mono-green nothing beats Garruk Wildspeaker, basically a 2 mana Overrun for the next turn.

Spoiler season has started and there are already some cards to consider playing. What about these two?

The Arkbow looks interesting as a 1-of in main for lategame card filtering. It is cheap and usable at instant speed.
Vivien can create card advantage or at least filters noncreature spells from the top. +1 is good for her defense even against flying creatures, mono green doesn't have reach besides Avatar. Keep in mind that the exiled cards (if they are indeed creatures) are playable for the rest of the game even if Vivien dies.
Do you think the flash passive is worth it?

I did not realize there are so many applications for Repudiate. Will definitely try it out at my FNM this week.
    Thank you for the tips.

Played this deck a lot pre-Eldrazi. Back at it after a full MTG hiatus.

    Here's my list

No match-ups feel truly lopsided. Feel like I have game against about every deck. A bit soft to Bogles/Auras but I haven't ran into it on MtGO or IRL yet. Have pretty close to 50/50 record against any given deck in the Competitive Leagues.

I am very rusty at the game, and have made a few misplays with the newer cards. Still remember all the sweet old interactions, though.

These splash-color lists I'm seeing are getting wild. I don't think I'd ever want to change anything about my main 60. I haven't cast Garruk Wildspeaker, yet. He's a flex spot trial against Path To Exile decks, UW specifically.

I'll be substituting one of the Unravel The Aether for a copy of Deglamer just because Nevermore exists and there is zero downside.

Hi, I really like your list and the choice of artifact/enchantment hate cards. There is nothing more infuriating than facing Ensnaring Bridge next to a Welding Jar.
I think that Scooze is generally better than Scavenger. Removing cards at instant speed is much more versatile, for example a Phoenix before opponent's combat. Or do you have a better experience with them? Maybe split 4 Scavengers for 2 Scooze and 2 Relic of Progenitus?
Also, how is Repudiate playing out for you?

Exactly. His decklist and information on tappedout were extremely helpful. Just asking if someone else has tested it or has an opinion on it.

    That's right, sorry about that.

Do you guys think a white splash is a worthwhile investment?

Dromoka's Command in mainboard and Rest in Peace, Gaddock Teeg, Stony Silence, Selesnya Charm, Path to Exile and Knight of Autumn in sideboard for various matches.

I guess it depends on the meta in the first place, but generally speaking, are these cards strictly better than typical green sideboard options like Damping Sphere, Life Goes On, Pithing Needle, Relic of Progenitus etc.?

Unfortunately, Green Sun’s Zenith is banned in modern.
Richaworth and Alex from the North gave you really good tips, hope you will have a great time playing Stompy. Smile

I've never thought of combining Zoo with Stompy, sounds interesting. But this approach needs those fetches and will spike up the deck's price from about 120 to like 400$, which just cannot be ignored. Although fetches thin out the deck, trigger revolt/landfall and allow a third color, they cost life too which can be significant in some matchups. If you have those fetches already, it would be nice if you tested this deck for sure.
Dryad Militant for example is just perfect. Enlarges E1 or Pelt and really hurts Dredge, Storm, Phoenix, Jund and other decks. Depends on the meta, but I would not cut it at all.
Ghor-Clan Rampager is indeed uncounterable and is a creature in case you need one, though you play it for the pump and for the same cost Atarka's Command is way better imho.
I completely agree with you on the matter of 4x Bolts. Thrash is more expensive and can be countered by any creature removal.
I am still intrigued by an inclusion of 2 or 3 Vexing Devils. In a deck where all the creatures have larger or the same power as toughness, Pelt Collector is probably a better choice than E1 anyway and it would combo out with the Devil.

Looking at your list, considering Lightning Bolt is the only red card so far, I would definitely disagree cutting Aspect of Hydra!
You still have all the Green creatures necessary, so I think it is still more than worth it.

Of course, if you decide to go on the "full splash" plan, Aspect might be wrong at some point, but so far I can't see any reason for that. All the cards mentioned do not seem to be a reasonable improvement to the deck, in my opinion. Maybe Atarka's Command might be worth the try, but that also does not hurt your devotion plan.

So putting it together, leave the list as it is. Remember Aspect is one of the key reasons why this deck can be competitive, so you would have to find a really great replacement in Red when you cut it.

The only thing to consider of course would be an upgrade in the Manabase, namely Stomping Grounds and Wooded Foothills. This inclusion would also allow you to play Narnam Renegade, of which I am a big fan. But this is of course also a matter of Budget.

I think "thatmarkguy" meant dropping Aspect when building a proper Gruul Stompy, not from this deck of course. I was considering adding a 2/3 Zhur-Taa Goblins and 1 or 2 Gruul Spellbreakers in the place of 2 Experiments and 2 Rancors. In that case, Aspect could be powered down a lot in some situations and I think that indeed would not be worth the change. Maybe just 2 Goblins for 2 Experiments could work.

The other thing I thought about is the inclusion of Vexing Devil with 4x Pelt Collector while dropping E1.
I already saw their interaction in Magic Aids' video some time ago and I think it could be really sweet. Even without drawing them together, Vexing is still a 4/3 or 4 damage for 1 mana. I don't have much experience, but the Devil would be sacrificed almost every time right?

I will certainly add the other 2 Stomping Grounds. Fetches on the other hand are a bit overpriced and almost out of stock in my area right now. Renegade is amazing though, but not worth the extra 150+$ for about 8 Fetches.

Thank you for all the help so far. Smile
