How much of a person/god is left once they are coated in lazotep? Is it just muscle memory or do they actually have their memories/thoughts overlayed with utter devotion to Bolas? I never quite understood that during the Amonkhet block.
The gods don't seem to have much of their original bodies left either (see their arms and mid-sections) which seem to be entirely lazotep or just missing entirely.
I am curious what happens to them most of all if/when Bolas is defeated. Dare we hope they can be saved?
How on Earth do you build around his ability? I feel like most of the time it's "look at the top 10 cards of your library and if there's a guild split card, reveal it and put it into your hand". The split cards being the best way to minimize color screw as you are building towards Niv and maximize late game effectiveness
For EDH I think he'd make a good dragon tribal commander building around the dragons of tarkir cards. Although there may not be enough cards to make that viable.
And also....I can't take seeing the gods all eternalized (except Bontu) they where so innocent (not Bontu) and honesty I feel worse for them since they where indirectly (not Bontu) leading their people, world and themselves to just be Bolas puppets.
I really hope Samut can bring some sense of vengeance for Amonkhet.
I know! I think seeing Oketra's will be the hardest since she was SO good. The Amonkhet gods were so different than the Theros ones because they actually cared about their people. Hard seeing them end up this way. At least the insect gods were still alive even after they were twisted.
I am curious what happens to the eternalized gods once Bolas bites it.
Not exactly unpredictable; the Amonkhet gods look like they'll keep their original keywords, lose indestructible, and gain an ETB. Ilharg differs because they're not an eternalized god with a previous incarnation.
Actually you're right! I was so hyped for the card I completely missed that this is basically his +2/0 ability from the original card except for your whole board instead of just one creature and trample swapped out for vigilance.
Not what I was expecting either. Bontu followed her original card closely. Rhonas is very different outside of the deathtouch. He seems very powerful for token decks.
Of all the amonkhet gods Bontu 'deserved' becoming a mindless thrall to Bolas for her betrayal. But it's going to be a kick in the gut to see the three benevolent gods turned like this.
Her card is great though and actually fits well into my original Bontu EDH deck. I won't even have to pay the original's sacking cost to let her attack and block!
