Hi there guys Just wanted to post something here hopefully someones still around, Im picking up the deck as my single modern deck probably over the next year or so, going to be doing extensive testing since this deck does everything I want to do in modern right now, its control & Plays really nice artifacts. Ima make up a list over the next couple of days to start with, still researching the deck atm.
Right now I feel a lack of good turn 2 plays if we don't hit turn 1 ramp. Used to have burning tree emissary here but I feel that tribe does a better job at hitting that sweet 6 mana spot on turn 3. And has the potential for 19 mana on turn 3. Currently about to test conjures closet in wishboard, might test with some low curve etb effects. Already have things like sundering titan, terastodon, hornet queen, primeval titan. Goose has been really nice so far, really helps the deck grind though some matchups. What are our defences against dredge outside of karn grabbing hate like tormods/bridge, also does the deck type have a discord?
Ya currently working on it, its version 1 so kinda testing right now, Already made some changes. Right now the biggest thing Im running into is just not hitting a mana sink enough. Like even through disruption can make big mana and just not have anything to spend it on. So far I cut the primal command + eternal witness package since it really wasnt impacting the way I wanted, there are things in the deck that can be much more impactful like terastodon on turn 3 killing all there lands. I added 2 finale of devisation to main for some wombo with craterhoof. So It makes smaller boards just a hit more lethal. Im going to add one fetchable red source. to many games been able to drop in primal and dont have the red source in main. Thoughts on the list so far?
Hi there, been a long time lurker to green devotion, Moved onto other decks and brew and wanted to give the deck another run since it got some considerable upgrades over the last ~year or so. Veil of summers, ouat, Castle, and karn are nuts for the deck. I like to play a more toolbox kinda style deck that likes to fetch answers and such. Not sure how to upload a decklist with links new to posting.
So hey there guys, Im forsaken I havent actually been putting anything up here in the primer but I've been working on sultai ninjas for almost 2 months now and the deck is finally in a state Im going to start ordering peices for in paper, in the last 4 days the deck has gone 13/4 in w/l ratio however alot of my finding are in the ninja discord, my list my not seem like its works very well at first but the results are there, Its taken down almost all tier 1 decks pretty fairly, There hasnt been a matchup were I felt hopeless on the loss. I've taken humans, red deck wins, pheonix, dredge, amulet titan, u/w control all in 2/0 at least once. If you would like to see more about the list and updates I highly recommend you join the ninja discord. https://discord.gg/EbquAJ
I also have all my games saved as vods for you to rewatch, overall the deck has gone through alot of changes but again its putting results Im happy with and will hopefully building it in paper then traveling for the next major modern gp to hoepfully place in prize pool or better yet, The top 8.
I've been experimenting with Kiora's Follower recently And havent been in a situation I wasnt able to cast it with the right mana combo's, I have however been able to make more defensive plays with attack then untapping things like Wurmcoil Engine To stall out more games, Taking out Eternal Witness so far I cant tell if Im liking it or not, I've been thinking about tweaking my list more, Been thinking about things like Beast Within. As far as scooze goes, I often find it just dies before actually making an impact, Im probably just going to run cage/relic for graveyard hate. The list is still very much being tweaked. I can say the one card that just keeps suprising me with how good its preforming Steel Leaf Champion. This card has straight up won me games just by creating either a solid early offense that goes over alot of creatures or makes trading unfavorable for them and if it sticks around for even 1 turn with the added devotion of 3g makes for some really really nice setups, I've had games where I simply go
T1: land. arbor/utopia
T2: land. Steel-leaf and if it doesnt die it puts in serious work. Opens up alot of very nice T3 plays with a nykthos drop.
I also play alot on cockatrice and Im really really enjoying the new finale of devastation. Very very solid tutor, I didnt think it would be as good as it is. On cockatrice Im fighting tier 1 decks most of the time, things like phoenix, tron, dredge, affinity. and I've found that if Im allowed to ramp normally the first 3 turns and I can make 14+ mana that the new tutor just ends games, even if the creature isnt craterhoof. I managed to make 14 mana on turn 4 vs affinity and just tutored up a Craterhoof Behemoth With only an arbor elf in play and swung for 19 points of trample damage and he just conceded. Ima have to do more testing but the new finale so far has been great. I've also been able to play around removal with it like Eternal Witness would be able to since it pulls from the graveyard, I had a game where I chorded up a wurmcoil to stabilize and it got Kolaghan's Command As soon as it hit. Chump blocked with the tokens then used the finale to pull it back and it went unanswered. I've only gotten to test about 5 matches with it so far but its preforming well. Overall Im still trying to tweak things cause I really think the deck type has potential to be a tier 1 deck we just are not quite there yet. Maybe one or so cards to really streamline the speed of the deck and we are golden. Im starting to look at other nongreen bullets with the chord/finale package. been looking at some oldschool reanimate lists and thinking about things like Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur, Griselbrand, Iona, Shield of Emeria as bullet cards but the only problem is I dont want them to be dead cards in hand. I think the list could change heavily when war of the spark/Modern horizon comes out, such an exciting time to play this deck.
I agree I think primal is amazing for green as it's one of the best forms of disruption and interaction we have I'm just not sure, I'm trying to really push the speed of this deck so the need for interaction is lessened, been brainstorming the new finale alot so far, just thinking about what's the best creature to tutor with 14 or mana rn. Griselbrand came to mind but it's probably just a win more card at that point
Also I just reread the text of the new green finale it reads library and/or graveyard, does this mean it fetches two creatures or just one. Cause the former changes everything
Hi there, So I've been a long time lurker of this primer Like year and a half. since I decided I wanted to play the best damn big mana deck ever and I can honestly say that green devotion is probably the most fun deck I've played. It just feels super satisfying to play and when it has some nut hands feels really unfair vs decks that it can just go over top of. I've been trying to really streamline a Summoner's Pact List for a while but Im not entirely sure if it can be done, I think we are missing just a couple of really good interaction creatures in order to effectively run a Silver bullet list. This is the current deck list I've been tinkering with.
So far I've enjoyed this list but I feel Im lacking interaction. I've also cut Primal Command & Eternal Witness honestly because during play they are really good cards but something needed to be trimmed out to make the list 60, not sure if it was the right call considering it is probably the best interaction we have but with both kiora and gurrak I've no had any problems with generating the mana to make a turn 4 bullet happen. actually had a game where it went as followed
T1: Breeding Pool + Arbor Elf
T2: Forest tap cast Utopia Sprawl tap out for 4 with 2u 2g, play Kiora, Master of the Depths use her +1 cast Garruk Wildspeaker +1 Into Steel Leaf Champion
T3: PLay Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx tap out for 14 mana using Kiora +1' into Chorded Craterhoof Behemoth and then Ulted Garruk Wildspeaker For metric crapton of damages.
So Im very much enjoying the ramp portion of this deck even with only 1 dork and a sprawl Im just wanting to see what you guys think about it. I also needed to run Chord of Calling for instant speed and can pull Creature cards not just green for Wurmcoil. But what you guys think.
I also stream my lists regularly on my stream and go over my card choices often, link to stream : https://www.twitch.tv/forsakengamers
