I've worked up a new version of the deck I'm finding surprisingly enjoyable. Scourge of Fleets at the top end coupled with some of the bounce and clone effects gives me some push in the late game and I've been slowly messing with more of a go-wide theme.

I keep looking at this card and wondering if I should build that Sygg, River Cutthroat idea or switch to Wyden because this is cool, I want to play it, and it slots into a Wyden, the Biting Gale flash deck real well.

    I like that idea.

After looking at the new legendaries I think I'm most interested in Thryx, the Sudden Storm and Atris, Oracle of Half-Truths. I know how I'd build Thryx but I'm a little stumped on ideas for Atris. I thought I'd bring it to the community and we could brainstorm together.

The first thought I really had was a deck centering around top deck manipulation and blinking so you always know what your opponent's are giving you. So you'd want things like Sensei's Divining Top, Scroll Rack and lots of scry. I thought about making it a deck that you'd win using Lab Maniac, Jace, Wielder of Mysteries or Thassa's Oracle but it seems like a lot of work to go through for those since there are decks where it's far easier to get those kinds of cards to win. If folks have ideas I'd love to hear them.

This is interesting... Blue/Green enchnatress could actually be quite cool in EDH. That said, she's not the legend I'm really waiting for. But she does confirm, for me at least, that the blue/white legend might have some kind of flash synergy to go with those 'cast spells on your opponent's turn' cards.

For some reason I really hope the U/W legend is Perisophia, the Philosopher.

What rotates out when THB rotates in? Because this is something, as noted elsewhere, the aristocrats decks have been waiting for.

Now I'm thinking why isn't this a Wizard so it can work with Naban, Dean of Iteration. Come on, Wizards! You're killing me on these creature types! :p

If that's not the truth! I looked at that and thought "okay, this could be a Persistent Petitioner's commander I guess but a wizard would have been so friggin' wonderful. And it's not like oracles aren't wizards on Theros (looking at you Omenspeaker). I'm seeing some kind of blue/black reanimator deck for this guy, a lock down deck kind of like Taigam, Sidisi's Hand or another Labman deck where you're just trying to draw your whole deck.

You could use multiple instances of single mill the way you do with Sidisi, Brood Tyrant if I understand the rules correctly.

Also works with Triskellion. Still not excited and certainly won't make me build a new commander deck. Still waiting for my favorite god in Thassa so I can see what her being without her Bident has done to her powers.

My initial thought was a hate bears + keyword soup EDH deck. Not something I want to build but potentially quite potent.

I’ve built a couple decks that are really hard to win with. One because the strategy is so out there, and the other because it requires intense amount of skill.

Zedruu - voltron. So the idea is to have 1-3 cmc auras that boost and protect zedruu. Then donate them to the opponents. Things like bravado that when donates to a tokens player can make zedruu go from lame to kill-on-sight. It’s really fun, but immensely hard to win with. It’s also fun trying to choose the right players to donate cards to.

Rakdos the defiler - so this deck is possible to win with, but it’s insanely hard to do so. The idea is suicide RB aggro. It’s the deck I whip out if I wanna get a game in under 45 mins. Even if I lose within 20-30 mins, I’ve usually done enough damage/destabilized the game enough that it ends soon after. I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who had not enjoyed playing against it, since it’s the opposite of what most people build (value-to-the-max).

Got a list for the Rakdos deck?

I have an idea for a 5 color group hug deck with Golos at the helm that might work. It was pretty much theoretical but I wasn't sure I'd pull the trigger on it.

Hey guys, I was wondering if I could get some help on something.
I work in a library and once a month we have a Magic the Gathering club night where folks can come in to play Magic usually a lot of EDH. A lot of the players are newer or casual and I'm realizing my decks are just a bit too much for them. Even when I let people use my decks (which is often as I keep extras with me for folks who want to play and didn't bring a deck of their own either because they don't have one or didn't know we had the club), if other folks are playing their own it tends to make for games where one of my decks is gonna win. Last time a kid won a game where he had his hand removed from the game and was getting teamed up on a bit. He was using my Meren deck that he had no real understanding of how to play and still cobbled together a win. And while it makes me a proud deck builder it's a bit much for the table. That deck isn't coming to the club anymore as the last time I played it I managed to win 2 games in under an hour.

I'm looking for something new to have available in the club. I've got a Kadena deck that's a bit jankier and probably on the right power level but it's slow and grindy and not exactly good at facilitating the kind of play I want here.

To give you some idea of what the regulars have
    1. We have a guy who's slowly putting together Jarad, Golgari Lich lord EDH but still doesn't fully understand how to stock his graveyard.
    2. We have a guy who generally plays the new Tolsimir with a wolf tribal fight deck.
    3. We've got two other regulars, (father and son) who tend to play weird casual or janky brews occasionally getting up to focused level but usually not beyond that. The most common decks they've played are a Saheeli precon (slightly modded) and an Avacyn Angel of Hope indestructible + wraths deck. The dad tends to play that one and a big mana black deck full of horrors.

I'm looking for something that will facilitate good games, let people do what they're trying to do and possibly speed the games along but won't dominate the group. I'm a host, not trying to take them all out with my usual deckbuilding which tends to lean into optimized builds. The group is pretty casual and it's a place where casual and jank ideas can probably succeed. Not sure what I should build though and I'm looking for suggestions.

Finally found someone else who wants to play this game! Okay I'm totally all in on this.

    Okay
Linden, the Steadfast Queen is probably our Guinnevere analog if we go with the idea that Kenrith, the Returned King is Arthur and I think we can reasonably make that argument considering he's called "the Returned King" even knowing what I know about what that really means with regards to the novel.

Considering those two are based in Ardenvale from the look of it and are white aligned I'm going to go with Syr Alin, Lion's Claw as lancelot since he's the knight closest to the king and queen.

We know pretty much without question that Emry, Lurker in the Loch is the lady of the lake.

I think Gadwick, the Wizened is Merlin.

No idea who Syr Elenora, the Discerning is.

Ayara, first of the Locthwain is one where I have no idea who she could be. I guess she most closely fits Morgana but I don't know any stories connecting Morgan Le Fey with the Cauldron from the older Arthurian tales OR the Holy Grail from the later ones.

The Cauldron of Eternity as noted earlier is probably the magic Cauldron from earlier stories that may have become the Grail.

Not sure who any of the red legends are.

Yorvo, Lord of Garenbrig puts me in mind of the Green Knight/Green Man from the tale of Gawain and the Green Knight.

the last one I'm going to mention is Oko, Thief of Crowns. He's the main reason I'm not sure about my Morgan Le Fey pick. Largely because considering he brings about the misfortune and shenanigans for the Arthur analog HE could be the Morgan Le Fey character in this story as well.
