Don't buy this for the silver value. if you think it's MTG value will cause it to be worth more in the future, that's fine, but when it comes to silver bullion, you want to pay as close to the spot price as possible. So you're probably better off with a US Silver Eagle or a Canadian Silver Maple. Every bullion dealer has boxes of collectible and promotional silver 1 oz rounds and they won't give a damn about MTG stuff on it. So if you're talking yourself into it being an invest, make sure you're damn sure it'll be valuable as an MTG collectible and not just based on the silver content.

My guess is this will retail between 3x and 5x silver bullion value which puts it anywhere between 90$ and 150$. You're correct in informing people that this is essentially the equivalent of the melt price, and possible associated value of it being MTG related 50 years down the line, but at 50 years down the line the silver value will probly still outweigh the mtg aspect of it.

Mono-black getting destroyed everywhere. 0-9 on camera

I did kind of laugh as they kept saying mono-black was the best deck in the format, and yet a variety of other decks came out to just crush and prey upon mono-black like it was their !@#$ with only 1 showing up in the top 8. I will admit that the devotion decks are very strong, but it seems like they are very vulnerable still so to claim hands down the best is just silly.

Why when MM1 went off practically perfectly would they mess with that? And they will not be in MM2...in fact many think MM2 is a myth...

Problem with your reasoning being however that they did state that if it was popular enough that they would make more product in a similar manner. I believe that being sold out immediately denotes popular enough.

My immediate thought is illustrated with "stoneblade".
UW stoneblade, esper stoneblade, WB stoneblade, deathblade, bant blade, etc

Is that diversity or the same deck to you?

Swinging with a Jitte/Batterskull for the win with an aspect of control is the same shell, but not the same deck. If we look at just the shells that exist at the top then there isn't a whole lot of diversity in Legacy at the top, but there are a ton of different decks.

Overextended would be like banning force of will and dual lands from Legacy, and that's about it. Modern is clearly defined as it is with its own set of problems, and its own set of triumphs. I am glad that extended is different than Legacy in its defining cards.

Your misplay of forgetting Burning Tree before the other devotion 3 drop guys was most of it, along with some missed Experiment One triggers. People are just salty that some named player lost to you because you drew your outs. I thought they were some of the most exciting games in the whole coverage (aside from the game loss, of course).

It always makes me laugh how when pro players draw their 1 of out left in the deck it is skill and they "set up" for that, but when other players do it they are "lucky noobs" who stole games away. It is just a laughable belief that always has me look at people and facepalm because I can't believe their idiotic logic.

  • posted a message on Commander 2013 NOT Limited Product Run
    Quote from eretsua
LGS informed me there will not be an additional print run of Commander 2013. According to them it follows the same pattern as Modern Masters' distribution. 90% of the total product run has been distributed and the remaining 10% will find its way to the shops in January. Take it for what you think it is worth but my experience with them is that they are always very well informed. So it will probably hold true for the Benelux, Europe at least

How might your LGS know more about this than MaRo? I would find it very strange for MaRo to actually lie to the community. Yes he misdirects and doesn't answer as part of R&D related stuff, but this would not be one of those times. You either misunderstood or your LGS is looking for reasons to maintain market value and sell product now with hype and scarcity over having people wait for more to come in.

Anyone else notice that Commander 2013 restocks were no longer on WOTC's sales list for the week?

I wonder if this is temporary as more product needs to come from the printer, or a sign of things to come...?

They might be stuck at the border or customs somewhere along the line or they just haven't finished the next print run as they may have made it larger than the first. It happens unexpectedly, but isn't anything nefarious. I think it's funny how people immediately jump to the world is burning even when the highest authority has stated otherwise.

    Quote from Tzefick
Could be a ruse/misinformation/misunderstanding or we could be looking at the possibility of a limited supply - at least concerning german distributors.

Other languages are a different beast than English language distribution of product so there may be limited supply of the non-English versions of Commander 2013. No clue though.

Has anyone noticed that the P9 will be ultra mythics/rare. Since they are slotted in where a foil would show up. How often do foils appear in online boosters?

There is a foil or power 9 in every pack. So your answer would be 1 foil per 1 pack for this set.

There is no excuse for this being rare

    None.

After seeing 5 rare slots go to uncommon lands you're really going to discuss design excuses? We already saw MaRo discuss the reason for the lands to exist at rare even if it was a terrible one.

Seriously? These lands are unplayable jank? They're FREE SCRY. FREE. SCRY. That costs NO MANA, can't be countered, and can go in ANY DECK. That's INSANE.

They come into played tapped. They definitely "cost" something. Sure can't be countered, but would you counter a 1 Scry: 1 to begin with or would you counter the spell they cast that actually has an effect. I am not sure why you're going ballistic, did you misunderstand the mechanic and you thought Scry draws a card or something?

I don't feel they are going to slow down the format as much as people think.

No, they will just force back to mono or light splash dual color decks (which we are already starting to see due to Burning Earth). These effectively remove the possibility of strong 3 color decks, and kill off any remaining 4 color decks (although not like 4 colors was all that big outside of rites). It's just a shift back to mono is all as they want due to their block design devotion. It's just lazy design, and the fact they stuck these at rare I think is what frustrates people more. These aren't rare lands.

What a bunch of terrible rare lands.

Yeah, forced CiPT is no good for a rare land (these needed to be uncommon). These will see small amounts of play as they are better than guild gates, but not by a whole lot. It will force people to back away from 3 color decks and really lock down mana bases. They put these in so that people would want to use devotion because they can't play 3 or 4 colors effectively anymore.

Yeah, they are uncommons stuck into the rare slot for no reason. I am really surprised that Wizards dropped the ball so hard.

In a month and half these will be in every deck that can play them and all the naysayers in this thread will be eating crow. Believe it.

They won't be played as much as buddy lands, and they will be played in control and tempo oriented 2 color decks. These CiPT so 3 color decks will be hindered tremendously.

  • posted a message on [[THS]] Medomai the Ageless, Chained to the Rocks, Thoughtseize, Dual Lands, Magma Jet
I find it hard to believe that they would reprint Thoughtseize in a regular set and then put other highly desirable modern cards at mythic in a set that no one could get. It just doesn't seem on par for Wizards to go here this 70$ card we'll tank, but we won't reel in any other cards and let them go crazy. Not saying it couldn't happen, but simply saying it wouldn't make sense for Wizards to do it with their track record as of recently.

    Quote from Corn
Maybe Remand? I dunno. I'm just tired of hearing about it every single set that comes out for the last six months.

I'd love Remand back in rotation.
