This is definitely the kind of effect I would want to plot. Setup turn two turn 3 play something with a "whenever another creature" type etb trigger, trigger it for free and give it haste?
MTG story has suffered for a long time. The refusal to use a block system restricts the ability to tell a contained story with a beginning, middle, and end. We're introduced to worlds with supposedly world-changing events, but because no status quo is established first, the change from the status quo is lost on the audience. We get a multiverse-wide invasion, but Elesh Norn's decapitation is spoiled before some of the worlds are even invaded. And then characters "somehow survived" things they should not have, and they all get thrown into genre-ripoff-world after genre-ripoff-set with no care for logic, consistency, or good storytelling. All the while, the MTG brand is diluted by injecting other IPs for nonsensical cash-grabs.
Mechanically, the card is fine though uninteresting to a segment of players. But character-wise... LAME!
I think the lesson they learned from the war of the spark novel debacle is "you shouldn't try and also you don't even need to try to make money just slap some stuff together to do an art theme."
I mean as long as your combo requires some small creatures I think this is pretty good. 4 to put two guys back on the field and 5 to go fetch one first from yer deck? Combo city.
Can't be blocked is black, deathtouch is green. I find cards with ahah! moment more fun and interesting.
Yeah I think your design is fine, we're just in an era where wotc wouldn't do something like that because of the above questions. They also stopped doing a lot of mana cost ability type stuff on cards but I would bet it would look more like G: make target creature unblockable B: give target creature deathtouch, y'know?
Maybe this is a weird nitpick, but it seems like a lot of people in MtG are pretty damn rich. Mirriam's hat probably cost a month's wages for a 1/1 human token. Also she does not look like she's dressed to travel the hot sands as her flavor text asserts.
I think it's just one of those things where if you can do magic in a setting where not everyone can do magic you get paid pretty well and practically all these legendaries are some kind of magic user.
The aversion to guns and like the use of weird halo 2 looking energy sword plasma rifle contraptions in this is goofy looking as hell. I'm not talking about Kellan's "not a halo two sword" daggers but like the annie flash thing and the one on crack shot and some other art.
Unironically glad that one of wotc's priorities making sets these days is putting little cuties in the game.

Love the cactus folks.
