I feel like we're watching the aftermath of Delve's balance problems play out here. all these Graveyard as a resource type cards have had problems so now we're here with the weakest GY matters mechanic yet.

weird that this is rare, but to be fair if it wasn't it would wreck limited as a surprise 2->6 damage bump plus menace.

Hmmm I thinking about the hybrid teaser

I thinking maybe it’s Oba on a separate card? (Severe doubtful)

and the cmc is something like this (B/G)(R/G)(W/B)(R/W) (clearly it needs to be in the right order)

Since they're putting hybrids in disguise costs I'm guessing it's gonna be two in the disguise and two up top.

Nah, hint says "a card with four different hybrid symbols in its mana cost"

Well, now with the split hybrid cards I'm assuming it's gonna be that.

five mana, instant, and you get a 2/2 or a 3/3 flyer. They are doing their best to push this again, even if the nay-sayers are gonna say nay. Hydroid Krasis with flash over here.

I'm just saying it's a nephilim because I want it to be a nephilim. I have zero interest in niv-mizzet and I'm frankly sick of his whole deal as a character. The five color/one color (likely green) is almost certainly correct, like it fits the sort of thing they would do. Legendary and maybe like a land fetching commander for gates or maybe like an ability for each color of mana spent on it (that's right, sunburst is back baby).

eta: Also conceptually similar to the Bringer cycle in fifth dawn. That's right it's a stealth Fifth Dawn remake baby we're gonna go blasting station all over here

No guarantees but the hybrid cost is likely to a legend

actually Something occurred to me the hybrid thing could be a Nephilim

yeah a nephilim with a (2/W)(2/U)(2/B)(2/R)(2/G) type of thing going on would make them draft playable.

Man, just straight up reprinting old sets and slotting them in the schedule feels more dangerous to the health of this game than any of the secret lair stuff. I know it's just following suit from game companies re-releasing old games in HD but it's just as clearly like, "we cannot devote enough resources to fit the release schedule we have and we need money now so here's a quick uplift of an old game" sort of stuff, coming from a hasbro that just laid off hella people to cut costs in one of their biggest years ever.

God forbid this set sells well or else we're getting one or two of them a year.
looks like someone's collection just went down in financial value. I'd accept another three Ravnica Remastered-s if it makes shocklands cheaper.

I don't collect cards, which serves as a better explanation for my distaste than concern about the change in price. I don't even play formats where shocklands are legal. The problem here isn't that they're reprinting cards, it's that they're putting out a product that requires no new work on their end because they're trying to fill an impossible schedule with a reduced staff. I have underlined the relevant parts of the text that you quoted and ignored.

We have had all-reprint sets going on for years, hello older core sets, so not really sure why this one is suddenly causing the sky to fall. IMO reprint sets are need for the health of the game to keep cards affordable*.

We are also getting one next year, Innstrad Remastered and Ravnica Remastered followed Dominaria Remaster we had at the start of this year.

Yeah we're gonna get more and more. See you for ravnica remastered 2 and 3 where they remaster the cards they didn't remaster before. Excited for Ravnica Returns, the 4th remaster in the new card frame coming 2026.

It's not just about how good the deck places, it's how diverse the meta game is. We are facing seas of monored aggro along with esper control and it's boring and annoying

It is 100% bc if you're just an average f2p player or a bot emulating a player it's probably the most effective deck you can afford. You start putting emperors and atraxas in you gotta start blowing through mythic wildcards. It's a Good Enough deck. You can't solve it through bans, normally you would solve it through rotation but we're not doing that either. The solution is take a break from the game and come back in five years.

Finally get an energy commander and it's in the ******* Fallout set... and not temur...

    Lol i thought the same.
This is also the first proper jeskai artifact commander and it's a ******* UB

I guess Tetzin, Gnome Champion isn't proper enough?
Tetzin is very parasitic with the whole "double faced artifact" mechanic. the deck builds itself but perhaps it's still interesting since dfcs are underutilised. the worst part is you will need to unsleeve-sleeve the cards sooooo often... and there is double the amount of text on dfcs.

i have no idea why ub would be inherently something bad. get an alter if you want different fluff part of the card. it's not like you will play sanctioned competitive events with it.

To be fair we've had dual faced artifacts in a bunch of sets now and they're usually something like "acheive some difficult criteria and then flip for a big payoff" type cards. This would actually work really well with incubate for the etb trigger and then with stuff like Azor's Gateway after it flips.

ETA: plus the whole thing is worded such that you really only need this guy out to get one artifact drawmill and pick up two creatures on attack.

I feel like with the special basics you don't wanna just put a whole 20 or whatever lands in, you want one or two so that they're still special. That's just the vibe I get tho idk people do what they want.

    Going a hair off subject

apparently some people may be jumping the gun on something

when They said changing “totem armor” to “umbra armor” did it involve removing/stop using the word “Totem” from cards names as well

apparently People think cursed totem is in a way being added to the persudo reserve list because the of the word “totem” in the card.

I mean, that's the logical conclusion, yes.
nothing is stopping them from reprinting the same catd with different name since the original is not on rl in the first place. but i do not exactly follow the logic of why change affecting totem in totem armor would have any effect on totem in cursed totem. are they saying that the whole word has some unwanted conotations? if so why it does not the same treatmen as crusade?

Hey I can answer this one. The word "totem" is an anglicized form of the Ojibwe word referring specifically to their belief in a sacred object/spirit that represents a specific tribe or lineage or so on. It's sort of a word that both means clan, and also the symbols of that clan, as they are basically one and the same. A totem pole is a physical representation thereof.

Early anthropologists (the super duper racist ones) flipped their lid about this ("Look! They have Heralds just like us normal humans!") and decided to use the phrase to describe a whole lot of broadly similar practices all around the world under the term "totemism." A good century of internal and external criticisms (the associations are flimsy and several generations of anthropologists have been complaining, plus other indigenous peoples objected to a word from a tribe halfway around the world being used to describe their beliefs. The Ojibwe aren't super stoked about it either.) has lead to a declining use of the term.

Just in general like a lot of these big broad words we use for generalized indigenous concepts are done in a way that flattens cultural distinctions. You say, "hey you here yanomami snuffing yakoana, you are the same as these here !Kung chewing a psychotropic root and running through a fire." Which, like, sure on a surface level is fine but referring to both of them as shaman (a Russian word originally used for Siberian indigenous healers) and referring to their beliefs as "shamanism" as a third party is what they call these days linguistic colonialism. The colonizing part really comes in when you start noticing that despite the traditions in, for instance, pentecostalism or catholicism being virtually the same (entheogens have always been a huge part of catholicism, for instance) those practices are considered "religious" and not "shamanic." We take for granted that our shamanism is a real and valid thing and the silly little practices of those barbaric savages is "the beginnings of civilized thought."

It's, uh, no mistake that all of these terms were invented in like British Empire/ French colonialism days.

The omenpaths are essentially merging any given two planes if they choose to for the sake of a storyline. The "Death Race" set will be a proof of concept for that kind of thing.

wow interesting never knew they already had hints for what the Death Race set would be?

    What is omenpath?

The uh, big tree from the norse set got re-appropriated by phyrexians to go to all kinds of planes so they could do their little invasion-y stuff and now that that's over the paths to the planes are still there, so we're getting like creatures who aren't planeswalkers showing up on more than one plane (kellan, for instance) and the "death race" set is going to take place across multiple planes, a sort of "race" against "death" or maybe /for/ "death."
