How is Crackleburr working out? It seems like a nice card, but I always wonder if there are ever enough creatures/mana available to make it worthwhile
It's pretty awesome late game, and it pretty much turns a multi-player game into a stall war of epic proportions. You're right though, for the most part, especially in 1 on 1, it doesn't get much of a chance to flourish. It's still 2/2 and gets the bonus from the Mindwrack Leige or Clout. I changed this up a bit, and now I'm running a backup strategy, Niv with Mind Spring to get things a little messy when I have no removal. After playtesting this deck in singles and multi-player, I've realized that my sheer power needs to outrun my lack of answers.

I turned the UR precontstruct from Eventide into a nice multi-player fast beatdown deck. All it took was alot of revamping...in fact, it's not very similar to the actual concept that the box presents. Anyways, I'm checking in because I realized it's been a long long time since I've talked to you all...anything new and awesome?
Every time I've ever started a new player, I give them a mono white or mono red deck right off the bat. (something where the objective is faily straightforward or lock-down)
But Kithkin is lame, and you've already got buddy playing red. So go mono-blue or that red that menma was talking about because it's really good for learning with
So I picked up the "Sidestep" preconstruct deck just to get a leige and an avatar for sure on like the first day EVE was out. The deck was actually ok, and with some alterations, I'm kicking moderate ass in 1 on 1 or multiplayer (Usually 3 player free-for-all). This is good, because my friends' decks are becoming better combo and beatdown decks all the time. Here's the deck list. I'm well aware that some of it could be alot better, but I'm not too familiar with anything RU Gold/Hybrid before RAV really. So any suggestions you have if any would be appreciated.
"Big Effects" have been a subtheme of most sets... but now that they are codifying them as "Mythic Rares." Possibly all of the art previews are from this class. (Makes it easy for marketing/web to pick the "hype" rares out...)
Agreed. They usually do that actually, just thinking back to Ravnica (Firemane Angel)/Guildpact (Niv Mizzet)/Dissention (Rakdos). The box art usually shows you something heater, so that's nothing new. I can definately see the described creatures/spells as Mythic with the kind of names they have. It's like the most overdramatic versions of the best types in magic. Vampires, Dragons, Angels, Demons, all of them are notably ill and given a boost in rarity and some amazing new abilities, they could definately be worth the money that the mythics are going to cost...ok maybe not, but it's still good.
Counterspells are fine in casual. In multiplayer, you don't wanna go throwing around a bunch of counter/discard spells, especially if you have little in the way of defense. We do free-for-all format with 4-5 players alot of the time, and things get pretty ridiculously unbalanced once people go playing alot of counter/burn/discard...I still play them from time to time anyways because they're great, but all of our multi-player decks usually have little to no counters. Soulsworn Jury is good for keeping creatures at bay, and anything with bounce abilities is good, but IMO (I'm still using UW as an example b/c its the most common multiplayer deck in our playgroup) you need to look after yourself with stuff like Palliation Accord before you need to load your deck with 8+ counters.
Well we've already seen the RG planeswalker, so that would be sick. *hopes that it burns AND beasts*, so if we could get a planeswalker for each color combination and 1 land as mythics, that would be sweet. Can you guys imagine an Izzet planeswalker?

Anyways, Wakethrasher being overrated is lunacy. It's super sick.
Ward of Bones is good with that Ravnica blue Phantasm or phantom or whatever that gives your opponent 5 1/1 red goblin creature tokens. That's what comes off the top of my head at least. Look, I took a brand new overhype artifact and turned it at least slightly Izzet. Now isn't that something?:D
Oh, and my broken casual Izzet deck got played at some guy's magic night by my buddy, and apparently he's never allowed to play it again.:rolleyes:

I've been looking at Shard of Alara lately, and even though I'm unhappy with the cash grab Wizards is trying with the Mythic Rares, I'm starting to think it could be a decent set. Does anyone know what the breakdown of the Mythics is gonna look like? (i.e. Multi-colored planeswalkers/lands?)

Oh man, what a stupid day. My work is entered in Dragonboats (for those who may not know what it is, it's really hard rowing in a small, painful wooden boat on the river while being yelled at by some fat angry dude from Arizona) and me and my girlfriend skipped out on the last 2 practices because we hate it. The race is on Saturday but I've missed 2/3 practices. Obviously I'm not doing it. Now, though, everyone at my work is hating on me cause of it. God I hate people when they're *****y.

Man between me and my friend, we've opened 10 packs of Xth edition in the last 2 days (we just found out there's a shop that sells boosters a block away from our workplace, so we've been chillen in the office opening packs) and we haven't gotten a single worthy card (with the exception of Bog Wraith and Llanowar Elves). I've opened 4 packs of Llorwyn, and I've gotten a card that I need in every one ^_^. I don't really have a point to all of this, except for that Xth is totally lame. I mean seriously..SCORIA WURM???!?!
It is so nice out here. My girlfriend and I went for a long bike ride last night, and it was awesome. Today seems to be equally sweet. It does tend to randomly rain for about 5 minutes on and off though, but if it's nice, I think I'm gonna do what I did on the weekend, which is go bike down by the river and through these intense forests and cliffs. I ended up sitting on the beach by the riverbank for an hour or so just chillen. I'm not sure if she's too fragile to take a route that hard, but I may as well try.

I also felt like nothing constructive ever came of those posts, as it would usually be somebody talking about an issue that is something they need to do themselves, and everybody just posted about themselves and their own experiences with it. Idunno, it just seemed a little bit like a place where pretentious people could get more posts and jerks could lash out at people who are seriously looking for help.
I agree. Although this hasn't happened in several years. Music is so much a part of my life, that an entire day with none is highly unlikely. Even if it's music I'm not thrilled about (radio pop, synthy overplayed rap), it still eases my soul and gets me all hyped. (nothing against radio pop and synthy, overplayed rap :P)
