I'm guessing it's an attempt at balance because it means that green and white have answers to it rather than just blue as they can potentially use a disenchant effect before any value can be gotten off of Underworld Breach.
Arguably it has upsides on Yawgmoth's Will, for one you can keep playing the same spells if you have the cards to exile and you can use it to recast spells currently in hand. I foresee some horrific Jund Dredge storm deck coming from this.
Maro has said that the lore articles were the most popular on the mothership site, actually
Yeah, they should have just stuck with the weekly lore articles, especially since it would mean they could spare a few articles for supplemental sets like Modern Horizons or especially Battlebond.
Exactly this. The lore adds dimension to the game. There wouldn’t even BE a Netflix show if the characters hadn’t been established by the lore. These characters wouldn’t have personalities or back stories or anything more than two dimensional images on cards to work with.
And if they’re seriously punishing us for voting with our wallets and having an opinion on that HORRENDOUS agony that was Greg Weisman and his novels, then I’m really surprised with the business practices of WOTC to resort to something that low. They hired a terrible author who was instructed by an incompetent fool. They have only themselves to blame for that inevitable result.
They had six years (and enough time to bring Wrexler on for more WOTS stories) to manage Theros. Have Kelly Digges write it. He was among their best authors who they fired to bring on hot ass trash to ruin the franchise with. Give him some work. Bring Jenna Helland back to continue the lore. Seriously? They’re just going to deprive Theros of a proper story?
We're talking about Elspeth, Phyrexia ties, a Gatewatch member (Ajani) and his motivations, Ashiok as a villain, the IDW comics and DACK Hayden’s descent into the underworld, perhaps they character’s final story. And that doesn’t even touch on resolving the Godsend novel or the pantheon of gods and the lore of Theros itself as a plane. All of this just discarded?
I mean would anyone have ever tried to make a Blind Seer EDH deck if it wasn't the only Urza creature card in existence until this summer?
