  • posted a message on Are my cards real?
Hello all, I recently bought 3 cards online on lilianamarket (UK) and I am having trouble figuring out if the cards are real or not. I'll post pictures and also reasons why I think they can be fake. Since they are cards from 1995 and I am not used to handling cards from that period, the differences I found may just be normal for cards that old.

    Positive points:

Rosette pattern seems genuine. Text seems to be printed above the rest of the card and I don't see the rosette pattern on the text, only on the rest of the card.

Cards are not valuable. They are easily found between U$ 1,00 and U$ 2,00, so I think that the appeal for fake ones are much less, though not impossible.

Light test seems fine. Although I don't have another copy of this card to compare to, I compared with another modern card that I know for sure is real and the light goes through both cards in exact the same way.

    Negative points:

First think that I worried about was the colours. The cards, although in near mint condition, just seem a little washed out and less vivid than modern cards.

This is the thing that is annoying me the most. The edges just seem off. To be honest, one of them just seems like it had been cut by hand and the other just not seem curved, but more like a straight cut. Again, maybe back them it was done differently and that is why they seem weird to me.

The back of the card is a bit darker than the modern cards that I have. Not something you could notice from far or in a picture, but noticeable when side by side.

    Here are the pictures:

Overall, the cards seem to have the same weight, feel and flexibility than other cards I have.

Can anyone please give me a hint if you think these are real?

Thank a lot and also, this is my first post here, so forgive me if I am posting in the wrong place or in a wrong way.

    Cheers to all!
