Not Quite Sulfuric Vortex RR or 1R (not sure on this)
Enchantment
At the beginning of your upkeep, Not Quite Sulfuric Vortex deals one damage to target creature or player.
If a player would gain life, that player gains no life instead.
I think he's a fun cube card, but not one that needs to be added based on power-level. If you do a lot of blink/bounce/sneak attack sorts of things in your X/R decks, he's worth testing.
Agreed 100% here. This card is totally fun. If you love creatures with ETB abilities, run him.
I run the annoying Pestermite, Deciever Exarch, Spilnter-Twin, Kiki-Jiki Mirror Breaker stuff in my cube, but these cards are still good enough on their own. Plus everyone loves Zealous Conscripts right? Well Kiki and Zealous is Mono Red Infinite I win Combo. (Same with Zealous and Splinter Twin)
I like the updates overall. Im a big fan of man-lands so Im happy you got them in. I personally dont like Miracle. We have a proxy powered cube that has them in and I dont even like them there. Miracle misses way too often and then they are overcosted duds. When they do hit they seem almost unfair. Other players in our group love em so to each there own. I am intrigued to know how Trickbind does for you.
I understand the dislike of Miracles, but I also understand the appeal. When I first saw them, I hated the fact that topdecking one could mean game over. Watching them in constructed made me not like them more, but then I began to think. The spells are porweful, and this is not constructed. You have a one in thirty three chance, after you draw your starting hand, and they could whiff. The chance they whiff and the chance they break the game sounds like a good enough arguement to try them out. Plus I am only putting three in. Looking at other miracles, Devstation Tide and Temporal Mastery could end up in the cube. I really don't like any of the other miracles.
I really hope Trickbind works out. Defentally will let you know how that goes.
Adding a wish list to the top post. This is things I wish Wizards would print/reprint so I can make the cube better.
1. Reprint Sulfuric Vortex
I really want this card in my cube. I know I have the exception with Fetchlands, but I only want to make that exception for those cards, to balance out the cycle. If I start adding other cards from non modern sets, what is stopping me from making a regular cube?
2. A good Izzet bomb
Help me out Dragon's Maze
I don't think my wish list is that much to ask for, is it?
So after drafting on friday, I was thinking I might want to make push the power level (not sure if this is the correct term) of the cube. While looking through other cubes on this site I found cards I think can make changes and do exactly what I am wanting to do, push the power level (still not sure if this is the correct term)
-Miracles now no longer banned-
I want to try this. Game saving spells. Game Ending Spells. Drama, Fun, and Rage!
-As stated before, Miracles are now in the cube.
-Faerie Conclave, Treetop Village, and Celestial Colonnade all replace borderline cut cards, at the request of a friend for more man lands, as well as previous recomnendations.
-Trickbind = Stifle in Modern
-Aggro gets a push with Legion Loyalist. Ember Hauler was just not working out.
-Mayor of Avabruck is in to help aggro. Deadbridge Goliath was seeing no play.
-Woodfall Primus suppots the ramp or reanimator builds.
-Noxious Revival is a testing card, but I think the ability is has is really good. Ensure a used miracle. Ensure your opponent draws that fetchland instead of an answer.
-Obzedat is in after a brief discussion in the This or That thread. Also this will be a gift a member of our playgroup, who drafts white/black seventy-five percent of the time.
Crazy part: Going into pack 3, only piece of the combo I had was Pestermite.
I don't remember a lot, but this is what I do remember
Match 1: Black/Red Midrange.
Game 1: I comboed off easily, after digging for the pieces.
Game 2: I won using Inferno Titan and Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker to get in for a lot of damage.
Match 2: White/Black Midrange. The person who played this deck, drafts White/Black Midrange around seventy-five precent of the time.
Game 1: My opponent was mana screwed, even though his Oblivion Ring took care of his own Wurmcoil Engine that I bought off to be part of my team, Bribery. Won with tempo beats.
Game 2: Comboed Off
Match 3: Red/Green Aggro
Game 1: Comboed off on turn 4. EOT my opponents Turn 3, Deciever Exarch. Turn 4 Splinter Twin
Game 2: Much like game one, except for a turn later. I was staring down lethal, and EOT my opponents Turn 4 Deciever Exarch. Turn 5 Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker.
So I am not sure if the combo is too powerful? Did my opponents just draft bad decks? (One of my friends, who I did not play against, said he took over ten removal spells) Or is the combo just supported well enough in the cube, if you get the pieced you can build a successful deck? All in all this combo probably needs more testing to get a final verdict.
Honestly, I don't like most of this (the switch to Stormbind is fine). Ob Nix is really good and pushes through damage on a stalled board like nothing else can. I'd cut Ink-Eyes long before Ob Nix; I'd even cut Massacre Wurm first because your black is too top-heavy.
Icy Manipulator is too good to cut. Cut Duplicant instead.
Cheers,
rant
And a wonderful arguement that has made me seen the erros in my cuts. Black is too top heavy, agreed. I like have the top heavy creatures, but this seems like the right time to cut one.
Wondering if anyone has had luck turning their blue section into something of an aggro color. I think blue is boring the way it is now. Let's go Flying Men!
I think this might be extremely difficult. Blue aggro is usually a tribal aggro based deck. Merfolk and Illusions come to mind. These decks require multiple lords (Lord of Atlantis, Master of the Pearl Trident, and Lord of the Unreal), allowing the early/weaker creatures the to get the push they needed.
During this update I was really struggling with my guild section. I really wanted to get Dryad Militant and Tattermunge Maniac in but hated seeing a 1 drop take up slot for a gold card. I finally stumbled upon a great article by Matt Kranstuber found here. He decided to cut all hybrids from the gold section since these cards aren't true gold cards. I had contemplated this choice before but never had a good enough reason to try it. Kranny's article did a great job of persuading me to at least give it a shot. With us only drafting once a week I doubt we are ever going to notice the slight color imbalance due to the hybrids.
This is a very intriguing idea. While it does throw off the balance, it is so small that it will more than likely go unnoticed. I look forward to seeing the results of this change.
The only cut I would enjoy hearing about is Liliana Vess. She has been on my chopping block for a little while now, but I have never pulled the trigger. What made you decide to cut her?
AND: Wretch Mind is in your cube, YES! I am looking at that card as a possible modern Hymn to Tourach. Not as good, but still. Also might of found a change to make/test in my own cube just talking about these two black cards.
Sewer Nemesis is in, because I found Ob not really working out the way I imagined the card would. Stormbind is for a friend. Phyrexian Ironfoot is being tested, after being shown the potential it has in this thread - http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=496145&page=2
Drafting this thing for the first time at an FNM in over 6 months. Excited for this friday!
That was the plan. The deck has kinda taken a big change.
Decklist updated. Hopefully to start serious testing done soon.
Thoughts and feedback welcome. Would like to find non-enchantment removal, not sure what would be good.
Also cweaver8518, I never see you online
I know this isn't good, just found the interaction and was intrested in it as most cubes probably run three of the four listed

Duplicant is a card I should of thought of when cutting. Icy seemed weird to me, but seemed like the choice.
