  • posted a message on Can a budget deck win against a serious competative deck?
Depends, on what platform you play, where you play, what deck/s you play against metawise...so on so forth.

Arena...not very often. I'm aware there is a budget mono red that will pull in wins. Gates CAN pull in wins also...but otherwise you're pushing it. And if you end up being matched up all the time like me..

Paper? Somehow I went 4-1 FNM (at a proper place, not some back alley LGS full of noobs)with a Gruul deck and the only rares were 4x Gruul Spellbreaker. This included decks like Sultai Uro, Top 8 Gruul with Questing Beasts, and even UG Flash.

  • posted a message on How does matching work on here...please tell me?
Firstly I'm just playing the normal Free play. Thing is, I get these matchups a LOT, so are there no "appropriate" decks at all? Surely in a game such as this, in a time where more people are playing at home, there must be SOME newer/less tier players. Side note" I am not waiting long to be put in a match, under 6-7 seconds lol.

I posted about it to Wizards, asking about it. You can be certain what happened to that post lol.

I'm sure this is somehow "justified" according to the pros here, but this is just one of the many weird matchups I get on a daily basis.

I have a rareless, all basics, mono white deck including vanilla creatures like Nyxborn Courser and subpar creatures like Sunlit Hoplite.
Somehow I am being paired up against decks full of Teferi, Uro, Deafening Clarion, Nicol Bolas and so on on a regular basis.

    Enjoy

But wait...the "pros" told me thta this isn't how it works and it matches you on your deck...

I had already done damage with my 3/1. They also had not used the sacrifice 10 permanents ability.

On my opponent's turn, SOMEHOW they were able to cast everything they have in play (Minus the 0/3 mana prodcuer). Including the Bolas's Citadel. They just kept playing things...

    Direct Challenge?

Not sure how it totally works (haven't had any direct games) but would be very keen.

Thassa's Intervention confuses Sparky. It kept trying to pay X but couldn't. After 60 seconds of it, I just conceded.

The matching on this, is it meant to be a joke? After CONSTANT pairing "up" (budget VS OP top8 decks) I made anther account hoping to see diff pairings. After doing the Sparky tutorial nonsense, I got the 5 mono colored starters. Hadn't even got the mastery tree orbs..What the..this is what I faced..

    1st match: Esper Teferi Control.
2nd match: UW Enchant with Dream Trawler.
    3rd Match: Esper Teferi AGAIN
    4th Match: Sultai Ramp
    5th Match: Temur Reclamation.

What in the actual **** is this?

I just but once i joined a game neither I nor my opponent drew a hand and we could not interact with the interface other than saying hello

Had that same issue Bolas. I left one game, thought I'd change my deck and crafted one card, Arena did use the wildcard but did not create the card I crafted. Ripped. Been working alright since though.

Savannah is on point; these people don't care for the time used. There's also the sore loser factor; many will start these shenanigans once they are behind or their key cards are removed.

Of course, sitting and letting the timer run down at your leisure is far easier when you're sitting at home, with no judge present or other obstructions.

I agree. I mean sure, if they take a little time to make a move/plan that's fine. But this is just extreme.

Thought I'd share this. 40 Minutes of stalling, timer running down etc from the one opponent. Had to split the video of the match into 5 for Youtube, but I have linked the last part. (Links to the other parts of the match in video description)

Edit: Not sure what YT did with my sound.
