I have been crushing the Arena ladder with this deck recently. Just reached diamond with it last night after a couple of days of play. One of the main reasons for this is that the deck does very well against mono red (which is encountered a lot in Arena). The main goal of the deck is to abuse the ETB card draw and life gain effects with Thassa and Charming Prince until you can land a finisher. You can also permanently steal cards with Thassa after they have been captured with Akroan War. The deck has a decent match up against control swapping out the creature removal for counter/exile magic. Any thoughts and input welcome. Thank you.
The problem with escape is that you have to remove cards from the yard, so it makes the deck slow. An “escape deck” is hard to do. Phoenix of ash isn’t strong enough and takes up all the graveyard cards for polukranos and kroxa (the two good escape cards in Jund). Assassins trophy could be at four and your missing bedevil. You don’t like? It hits witches oven and shadowspear.
I’m not saying it’s impossible, some cards like gutter ones could work well with plaguecrafter and you could have an early game as well as a graveyard to escape from, but a lot of those cards aren’t worth it. Just not enough synergy.
Yep, you are absolutely correct. After extensive play testing I can confirm this. While there are some good cards with the escape mechanic, as mentioned above, the mechanic is too slow and resource intensive by itself to be competitive. Still, fun to play and mess around with. Thank you for the input.
This is my take on Simic ramp with the release of the new set. I have been absolutely crushing in arena with this list and I feel like its much better than the original version. The amount of card advantage and draw this deck can generate is ridiculous. Thassa is just plain OP and I honestly feel like there is a good chance she will get the ban hammer. The deck is very forgiving and I still pull out wins even when I make mistakes and miss-plays. The main interactions (and there are many) should be evident when looking at the list. Any constructive discussion and inputs welcome. Thank you.
Please help me stream line this deck. There are too many cards that I would like to include, but it needs to be trimmed down to a solid 60. The intent and goal of the deck should be pretty self explanatory. Also, feel free to suggest other cards that might be a good fit. The deck has been very fun to play so far and offers so many options/interactions during a typical match. Any other constructive thoughts/comments welcome. Thank you!
