Irritated with the DRS ban, but I'll just use this as an opportunity to scoop up more copies as people firesale them. Stoneforge trajectory is assured with this guy
Sylvan ban is just more uninformed bull**** ala Primeval Titan. Kokusho eventually came off the list and those two will as well some day.
No, Ken isn't ridiculous in SF, he's not even better than Ryu iirc. The problem is that his shoryuken is very good and weaker players flock to him and then spam it. The "Flowchart Ken" concept pokes fun at this. When in doubt, shoryuken!
Rafiq could still work as a Ken analogy, since he's very straightforward and powerful but when you get to higher levels of play he's really just predictable.
Edit: For reference, Justin Wong's proposed tier list for SSF4AE:
S+: Akuma
S: Cammy, Fei Long, Sakura, Seth
S-: Adon, C. Viper, Ibuki, Yun
A+: Abel, Gen, Makoto, Rufus, Ryu
A: Gouken, Guy, Juri, M. Bison, Oni
A-: Balrog, Cody, Dhalsim, Guile, Sagat, Zangief
B+: Blanka, Ken, E. Honda, El Fuerte, Rose, Yang
B: Dee Jay, Dudley, Evil Ryu, Hakan
B-: Chun-Li, T. Hawk, Vega,
C: Dan
Indeed. Trying to push the masturbatory extra turn taker into our camp isn't going to fly. You guys can have him :3
Sidebar: Jeleva is actually surprisingly good. She hoses recursion and demands an answer almost every turn when she is taking cards from good decks. She's pretty frustrating to play against in long games.
Creature-based decks probably can't handle the repeated wiping you're doing with Glissa. Tell your friends to pack more graveyard hate and snipe the disk/stone before you can get it back. Also tell them to run more tuck effects to stop you from abusing the recursion. I think that would fix the problem in the most acceptable manner.
I've been pushing Stonecloaker for a while now, maybe they should try it <.<
I'm wondering why you keep bringing up counterspells. You won with a quickish combo, not by countering everything. Did they specifically say they hated counterspells or something? Makes me feel like you're not understanding the point they were trying to make, and instead are trying to attribute to them the whiny "Nooooo don't interact with me!" mindset.
Maybe I skipped a post somewhere...
Anyways, you ended a multiplayer game in a relatively short amount of time, good for you. You can obviously see why people who were expecting a fun, interactive game would be disappointed by that. Someone probably should have had an answer and with prizes on the line one should expect to see more decks like yours so I understand your point of view as well. The guy who refused your pack was, if you're not excluding information about further interaction, being petulant.
Leagues are a sticky situation. On one hand EDH is supposed to be a social format. On the other, if you make it a competition people will bring non-interactive decks, and non-interaction is antisocial.
And saying that, in a non-competition game, it isn't your responsibility to make sure everyone is having fun while playing a social format is pretty damn irresponsible. Sure, no one is holding a gun to your head but if the mono-colored guy has been locked under a donated Celestial Dawn for the last ten turns you give the guy a break and blow that **** up right?
If we're going to start banning "broken" engines we're going to be here a while.
Maybe we can just trade Iona for Servant, as she's terrible anyway?
I feel like that would make everyone much happier, and I can't for the life of me figure out why they won't do it. Ohnoes, Grindstone! Not the scariest combo, and even if that needs to be banned as well it is obvious that the collective fun level of Iona/Grindstone is roughly a thousand times lower than Painter's Servant's.
Do elaborate? Kids who have daddy warbucks paying for everything can certainly manage school and infinite traveling and everyone I know who has an actual good job makes time in their schedule for whatever events they want to attend. The people who have no time for anything are the folks with bad jobs or bad jobs and school.
It is about time Stoneforge started climbing. It was insane for her to be sitting ~10 until now. Been trying to snap them up since rotation at that price. Got my foil for EDH at $15
Snapcaster will eventually spike as well. He's waaaaayy too heavily played to be ~20. Deathrite will follow eventually.

Food Chain into Prossh.
Erayo into Edric.
Sadness into "New to EDH? Here have a deck to play. Keep it."
It is absolutely Iona.
Servant is fun.
Grindstone is fun for some people.
Iona is not fun.
Servant/Grindstone is just another "I win" 2-card combo.
Servant/Iona doesn't even end the game immediately.
This was supposed to be the art for the reasonable cantrip we've been deserving for a while now.

Especially sucks when the job blows so hard it is hurting your grades

Invoke is devotion speculation I assume?
