Ok. Crazy card. 2/2 with haste for 1. Always going to be a top limited pick. It won't see standard play though. No one wants it. BG counters won't splash for it. Cat combo doesn't want it. Mardu vehicles could use it, but it won't. Here's why:
1. It dies to the most popular two removal spells in the format. Shock and fatal push.
2. It's just a bad idea to be giving your enemy an extra land drop in this standard. Swinging a couple of times with this dude will lead to you getting cat combo'd a turn earlier. Not good.
So that no one else reports this post. He has been warned.
If an LGS is currently having issues getting events to fire in the current Standard scene....do you think Ahmonket even has a ghost of a chance of reviving them?
Standard attendance has been down in the *****ter since Kaladesh, everyone is sick of seeing the same Mardu Vehicle deck every week with almost every opponent. Now FNMs are having trouble firing (first time seeing this in years at this place), even if Ahmonket is amazing, do you think it would be enough to revitalize the disinterested current player base? This is the 2nd massive community participation drop in recent memory, will the community go for 3 before giving up totally?
Seems like WOTC is giving up supporting Modern, barely support CMD, given up on really supporting Eternal.....all they care about is standard, and are doing a pretty weak job at that!
At your LGS, maybe. Try to avoid blanket statements like this--it doesn't do much to reinforce the validity of your argument.
I'm not sure what they were thinking with this. Didn't they already ban Eldrazi stuff in Modern for being too crazy? Now they are printing this in standard? They stopped reprinting Birds of Paradise because they thought it was degenerate...this is going to mean games ending on turn 3 - 4 in standard.
And coinflips in constructed playable cards? That's going to be a nightmare at tournaments.
Woah, what are they thinking with this new set? A green draw engine for 1G? Blue doesn't even get card draw this good. And since when does green lose life for effects? Makes no sense. Should be like double the cost and black.
I don't see the point of this new shroud mechanic. It's strictly worse than Hexproof. Threshold is pretty bad too, Delirium is a much better mechanic and probably easier to activate.
Otherwise this card is a pretty neat guy. Dodges removal and grows into a Primal Huntbeast. 3/5
Am I the only one who is kind of sad this is happening? The major leaks for both OGW and now this. I wouldn't be surprised if there are a lot more packs in circulation if these two can show up like this, but I really hope there aren't. Destroys the spoiler season and the order of reveals that make it interesting.
Nope. Doesn't bother me one bit. Don't like the leaks? Don't visit rumor mill forums.

Mine also has this problem.
