wow, I think I might actually check these out. Also the way Ashioks mouth is, he reminds me of the closer monsters from Silent hill 3. very creepy.

I would also make sure they didn't mean if you wanted to PREORDER you had to get all 5. Sounds weird, but who knows.

yeah I will double check to be sure, it would be so odd if they did that otherwise.

I recently called my LGS in Oswego NY about the availability of the commander box sets or if I could reserve any of them and they told me that they are only selling them in sets of five, most likely for $150. as much as I would like to support my local game store, I find this to be unfair and will likely be purchasing them at Walmart individually instead since I only want two and I don't want spend more money for stuff I don't want.

is anyone else experiencing this? or am I just way out of touch with the way they are distributing these things? Confused

I could not be more pleased with these decks.
I will probobly be buying the esper and grixis ones because of the generals and the great tradstuff! they did such a great job making these decks. I would have never expected to reprint so many of these cards, portal 3 kingdoms, weird old legends cards with classic or new art.

that and the new cards are brilliantly designed! Darksteel mutation is such an awesome flavor card! Toxic deluge is also kinda nuts, maybe even better than damnation? Im surprised nobody is talking about that snake guy either.

WOW! this guy is gonna be expensive down the road.
but how is this supposed to be blue? first off creature wise he is way above the curve that is normal in blue and even then black is more likely to have a fanatical hatred for a particular opponent. I wonder what deck he is gonna be in, because the blue deck might be ridiculous in this set.
    also the art is wicked!

While I do love making with the hilarious multiplayer moves and forcing my opponents to punch each other in the jaw, cause that never gets old... how is this any more hideous than Aetherize?

they are really on the same level powerwise. Aetherize bounces and disrupts, this thing redirects and causes miscalculations. either way they both cause you opponents grief after what was probably a well calculated move.

as someone who has played Aetherize in this format, I can say that there definitely is a certain sense of satisfaction you get after your opponents meticulously caluculate their attackers and responses for 20 minutes only to make it all pointless in a decision you made 10 minutes ago. Grin

    Certainly do not feel better.

These cards that they are making just for commander do not feel like real Magic cards. They are created with a multiplayer format in mind, with "Commander fun!" inspired effects. They are trying to replicate the legitimate effects that legitimate Magic cards create in commander, however, their attempts feel forced, fake, stilted, etc.

Have you ever sat and played with the Duel Decks? Does it feel like a normal game of Magic to you? It's...off. The decks aren't "real" decks. They are, again, forced. They don't feel like a normal game of Magic because of the way they are designed, engineered, put together. I feel these Commander cards, ALL these commander cards, are like those Duel Decks.

Is the card powerful? Yeah, sure. Actually, that's part of the problem. These cards are crazy powerful, but in an inorganic way.

That's just how it feels to me. I read these commander-only cards, and I wish to hell they'd just give us some great reprints. These cards don't feel like Magic, and I don't look forward to playing against them.

Well EDH was never "normal" magic to begin with. EDH can be like when you were first starting, when your deck was a bunch of bomby singles and other stuff crammed into a massive over sized deck. or it can be a finely tuned multiplayer deck that depends on certain card interactions to make a consistant deck that uses the sheer variety only a hundred card deck can provide.

there are not many cards that really specifically cater to multiplayer, and even if they were to make them, they would be dysfunctional in any block set. so this is the opportunity to make those, they do not function like normal cards because they allow friendly interaction and negotiation that is rare in normal cards. like fact or fiction, its great for mind games in normal competitive, but becomes something more when your opponent may not necessarily be your enemy.

I think these curses are great because they provide interesting kitchentable situations in normal magic (or maybe competitive?) , but act as "targets" in multiplayer. they place a target players without makeing them necessarily a threat. that never occurs in normal magic, and becomes a catalyst for hilarity!

another perfect multiplayer card! so long have I waited for an effect like this.

no more will people attack you just because you are getting screwed on creatures and you are the least dangerous to attack.

    OMG! very OMG!!!

I ignored this card for a while assuming that this thing would be at an uniterestingly high cost. I would have put this thing at three CMC. but 2? this looks like you could build around it with something like Wispering Madness.

the discard deck of my dreams may soon be reality!

uhh.......its a beautiful creature design? Shrugs

Im not sure how to evaluate this card. its doing lots of things at once, it gains you life for cards drawn , so it makes sphinxes revelation better I guess, but it ussually dies as a surprise blocker. its abilities definitely capture the flavor of a magically created mutant.

probably not standard competitive but a beloved limited guy for sure.

100 hand man is the way to go.
a bothersome blocker that can become a real pain in the butt with some effort.
god forbid you make him somehow bigger.

I picked spearpoint Oread, first strikers are always good, but one that can boost a creature and return is even better.
