I understand how "target" works, but what about "a"
example, say Devout Lightcaster said "exile a black permanent" instead of "target black permanent" and my opponent controlled only Malakir Bloodwitch.
Would Devout Lightcaster's ability be able to exile the Bloodwitch since it is not targeted?
I am sure there is a better way to ask/explain this difference.
Thanks
Strangeuniverse, then perhaps you could explain my issues with buying a Zendikar Booster Box from the Cardkid on Ebay this past release period? They have a 98 to 99 % positive rating on ebay and are considered highly reputable as far as many people are concerned yet they still failed to send out their Zendikar orders to anyone who ordered from them.
He takes his mana and the spell back to his hand, since he cannot play it, just like if he were to try and cast Cruel ultimatum while not having the right amount of mana to pay for it.
I chose negate over essence scatter in my version because I have 8 creature removal, and 4 board sweepers. I shouldn't need to counter a creature. I think at best essence scatter is a SB card.
acidic slime likes to eat the luminarch ascension.
it will absolutely certainly be played, as the 'black baneslayer' (though many decks would prefer demigod), but being only a rare in a smaller set I doubt the prices will skyrocket, so I'm guessing it will be a rare that sees quite a bit of play but stays quite affordable. Good news for vamp tribal, since that looks very inexpensive yet effective
demigod is not in the format anymore once this vampire gets in
That's just my pre-round 1 shuffle. After round 1, I simply sort out mana clumps and follow with 3-5 bridges.
Probably should have specified. And although mana weave is controversial, it's technically not illegal, and several bridges followed by a cut typically reassures the opponent.
Forlorn Egoist
man, if this was at a PTQ or equiv type of event, i would call the judge immediately.
if i saw you doing this, i would also pile shuffle your deck like 2x after you did that.

i thought we're talking about singles, not boxes.
horde of notions
i know its a silly question but would horde of notions satisfy all the creature requirements for coalition victory?
if you buy from people with 99%+ rating, the cards will usually get to you.

they should have made them fetchable and said "comes into play tapped unless target opponent gains 3 life"
this is not a rumor... i have the cards in my hand...
