My english suck pretty hard too, but I would definitely listen to this each week. This podcast would of course focus on the top decks, but how about a weekly section named "Rogue deck of the week"? Looking forward to hearing from you. Smile

Thanks. My earplugs doesn't completely shut off all sounds so I hope it won't be a problem.

Is there any rules that prevents me from using earplugs while playing a tournament? I could see them making it easier for me to concentrate, and shut off the buzzing sounds from a GP.

    Some early thoughts:

I see lumberknot as very weak. It's sort of setting you up for being 2 for 1ed. I think there will be many matches ending with: Kill your soulbond-dude, Swing through your not so impressive lumberknot defense for the win.

Vessel of endless rest is the nuts. Without an impressive rare in the pack I will be happy to 1pick it any time. It is the only form of mana acceleration (in a bombheavy format) and it makes it so much easier to splash some very valuable cards. Lets not forget it keeps you open colorwise in a draft, and of course if you can hit a relevant card in the graveyard, it's a fine bonus.

Human frailty and death wind are solid. If i have a vessel or play a green base, I will try to make room for them both. Both hits the vast majority of soulbond action, making for some silly outcomes of the combat. This is also why I would play 1 or 2 of the green instants that protects your dudes.

As someone said before me I also see the format as very swingy, therefore I will pick instant removal very highly.

This is nonsense. The graveyard is the zone you can exploit and have fun with. Wasn't the exiled zone made so you could have a zone you couldn't bring something back from? (dont mention momentary blink, and stuff). If they continue this I see them making another zone like "tear the card in pieces" or "removed from the game, for real this time"-zone. Magic need exiled to be finite. And the fact that they began playing with exiled makes me nothing but sad...

    Quote from Stairc
I remain open to evidence of anything supernatural - but as the universe looks exactly as we'd expect a universe without a supernatural entity to look (life's incredibly rare, long time-spans when nothing happens, vast portions of our OWN planet where life's impossible, faulty biological processes and no instances of supposed divine intervention in any culture sophisticated enough to judge these instances empirically or hold reliable history...) I believe there isn't one.

I find this rather arrogant. There surely must be thousands of incidents happening where people claim some divine internesion to have occured. To dismiss all of these people to not be sophisticated enough is arrogant. Think of it this way: Homo sapiens have lived and thought on this planet for thousands of years, and only the last 50 to 100 years have people began to think so highly of themselves that they disregard millenias of experience with some deity.

On the other hand I'm not naive. Of course many of the priests and shamans of old were humbug for different reasons. There still is alot of exploitation of believers in religion. But there's also many incidents that cannot be easily explained without assuming a spiritual interference.

This deck could make fun of Genju of the Spires and a pinger like Cunning sparkmage. Play the genju and kill it with sparkmage. Rinse and repeat. When his lands are under control use the genju to win the game. Seems fun?

Biorythm seems like fun. Maybe sideboard against creaturelight decks? If you went with it, how about playing it off a windbrisk heights?

The best is probably venser since you can sit back on blink and other counterspells.

Off topic: Also try out Seth's Tiger. It is a hidden gem in blink decks.

  • posted a message on The meaning of life is.....?
    Quote from Highroller
This I completely agree with. We're asking the wrong question. It's not, "What is the meaning of life?" but instead, "What gives my life meaning?"

To me that meaning is found in connection, with God and with others. I believe our purpose is to love, and in doing so recognize that love is who we truly are.

But there's a difference between meaning and purpose. A poem's meaning and its purpose would be related, certainly, but they're not the same thing. And "why is the poem there?" could go either way.

So are you asking for our meaning or our purpose?

"To me the meaning is found..." This implies that life may hold different meaning to different people. On what basis do you defend this view? Maybe it was just a polite recognision that everyone is entitled to their own belief?

    Quote from Horseshoe_Hermit
To recognize that inevitably if you are conscious you will bear pointless suffering.
    Possibly a tremendous amount.

And find a way, that despite this quality of existence, to make existence itself worth it.

This is a nice quote. But I think you replace something abstract and hard to grasp (the meaning of life) with another abstract term (worth). what have you gained going from meaning to "worth it"?

With the release of DKA, this is something I'm going to start flying soon and see if I can get it off the ground, and would like some suggestions for it as well.

Most of it follows the same structure as other decks, but there are a few variations
-Ranger to grab lands in a lower land-count deck: I seem to have bad luck with getting a proper mana-base otherwise.
-No non-basics or out-of-green cards: Limits effectiveness of some land disruption strats that are popular in the local meta.
-Increasing Savagery: If your opponent can't respond to the Warcaller, this suddenly makes your entire Elvish army huge, and doubly so if the game has taken a while or you just somehow hit that crazy amount of mana.
-Sideboard: Eldrazi and mana elves if you want to add those in to counter mill and surprise them by changing to ramp, Leylines for vs. other Aggro decks (highly considering replacing this but not sure with what), Zealots and Grips for handling annoying enchants/artifacts. This is more than likely not the best sideboard for this deck, which is the main reason I'm looking for a bit of review on this desgn.

What it lacks is a way to deal with other creatures in its current form. Was thinking perhaps putting Beast Within to the sideboard for that in place of 1 leyline, 1 grip, and both Zealots.

Perfect hand would be 2 forest, llano, 2 archdruid, warcaller, savagery. Turn 1, play forest and llano; Turn 2, draw forest, play an archdruid; Turn 3, draw Ezuri, play archdruid, warcaller kicked once, if opening permits swing with your now 3/3 llano; turn 4, draw forest, play forest, play ezuri, tap archdruids for 10, play savagery on warcaller, use ezuri ability, regen Warcaller, swing. Both the Llano and the Warcaller will swing for 24 trample this turn, and Warcaller will be tough to get rid of.

You could probably afford one Pendelhaven, and the treespeaker never impressed me. Whatever strategy you are playing (combo/aggro) getting treespeaker bolted when you are leveling it up is a blowout. You've just spent the first two turn doing nothing. Knowing how often games ends in turn 4-5 that is a too big risk to take.
