Even if it was a consistent turn 3 deck it would be fine. Technically, it doesn't win on turn 3. It is also incredibly weak to disruption. It is easy to reanimate Griselbrand or Iona on turn 3 in Modern with cascade spells= Breaking // Entering. That doesn't see play because it is weak to disruption. That deck would be too.

You know I actually do agree with you there, it would likely be a fine deck.

But wizards hates dredge with a passion. I do not think they will ever unban Dread Return

The little mana dork that could B/R mana
    Creature - Devil
T, discard a card: Add BR to your mana pool
    1/1

If we can't have Wild Nacatl back, what else can zoo get instead?

    Wild Canine G
    Creature - Dog
Wild Canine enters the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it if you control a plains.
Wild Canine has haste as long as you control a mountain.
    1/1

If you drop it turn 1 with a Stomping Grounds, it is only a raging goblin, not very good.

If you drop it turn 1 with a Temple Garden it is a 2/2, better but not Nacatl good.

If you wait until turn 2 to play it, with all 3 land types in play, its a 2/2 haste for G which I think would be perfect for zoo.

Skullclamp unbanned, it has a lot of potential to open up the format to many new and interesting decks, It would give aggro the push it needs to remain relevant in the format.

It would push affinity and elves over the top

I would do illegal things for this card.

The differences between this and Tourach are marginal. Too strong, unless you make the discard non-random

When ~ enters the battlefield, name a nonland card. Search target opponent's graveyard and library for any number of cards with that name and exile them. Place a +1/+1 counter on ~ for each card exiled in this way. Then that player shuffles his or her library.
    1/1

That is very powerful, but I would also love to see it printed. Interesting that it doesn't affect the hand like Memoricide does

Emrakul, the Eons Torn, to me, would be a very reasonable ban if the decks that run it prove to be a problem and begin to stamp out other strategies out of the format. In such cases it is as much a matter of decks that run them as the creatures themselves. Take the Goroyo's Vengeance deck for example. If that deck was more consistent it would be much more reasonable to nerf it by banning the creatures (Griselbrand and/or Emrakul) then the "engine" of the deck itself. However, if it maintains it's glass cannon status Emrakul should be well and safe.

No I believe that Goryo's Vengeance would always be the correct ban if that deck got out of hand.

Dark Depths + Thespian's Stage is very strong. Uncounterable, 20/20 indestructible flyer for only 2 colorless mana in addition to tapping and sacrificing Stage.

Tutorable with Ancient Stirrings, Knight of the Reliquary, Life from the Loam, Sylvan Scrying

You can also combo with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth and Vampire Hexmage to go that route, which can go online by turn 2.

Probably best to keep it banned

May the Force be with you

    1. What is this format all about

It is exactly the same as any other, except for one minor detail. Each player begins the game with an emblem that reads

Exile 2 cards from your hand: counter target spell

Remind you of anything? Of course, the emblem emulates the effect of Force of Will, one of the most powerful cards in the legacy and vintage format.

    2. Why play this format

The purpose of this format is skill-testing. Force of Will is a very skill-testing card, because despite how powerful it is you are still trading 2 cards of yours for one of your opponents. If you use it at the wrong time, it could cost you.

In the same way, you may be tempted at first to continually trade 2 cards in your hand for each card your opponent plays. But if you were to do this every time, you would eventually run out of cards. Therefore, you will need to know when to hold off and let a spell resolve.

Do you counter their turn one Ponder? Probably not. How about their Wild Nacatl? That if for you to decide

The main purpose is to allow any player, no matter what colors you are playing, to have the opportunity to interact with your opponents' plays. Traditionally the color blue is so powerful because you can stop anything the opponent throws at you. In "May the Force be with you" any deck has that ability right at their fingertips

    3. What cards/sets are legal to use

Because it is a game play change and not a deck building restriction, "May the Force be with you" can be used with any previously existing format. Vintage, legacy, modern, standard, Commander, Cube, pauper, Tribal wars. Nothing is off limits.

You can even experiment with Vintage without any restricted cards whatsoever, and I still believe it would make for interesting games, as all-in combo decks become significantly less powerful

This minor change, I believe, can elicit significant changes in gameplay experience

How consistently powerful of a deck would Dredge be with Dread Return and Grave-Troll but without Bridge from Below?

How is a t2 Dredge/Reanimator deck not an upside? The goal is to have the greatest number of viable decks, which unbanning Dread Return and GGT would do. The point of banning powerful cards is to prevent them from centralizing the meta. Bridgeless Dredge could easily lose a game to a Remand. Without the army of free 2/2s it just isn't the broken deck that people think Dredge is.

I think you underestimate Bridgeless Dredge. It is still very easy to spew out Narcomoeba and Bloodghast, sacrificing them to Dread Return, and reanimating Iona or Griselbrand on turn 3.

However it remains to be seen if this would end up being a consistent turn 2/3 deck or not.

My point was, if they ban DRS and it opens up the GBx shell a bit more, like the BBE ban did, I am saying its a good ban. The formats health and balance is more important then any single card. Or at the moment, the power level.

Disclaimer, I own DRS, I dont care either way if they are banned or not. I personally feel the ban from the BGx shell to bring it back to the pack would be Lilly or decay. Turn 2 Lilly is almost impossible to over come and decay is holding back blue based control decks. But that all said, I can see any of the 3 cards banned opening up the format a bit more.

That doesnt mean I think anything is going to happen. For Modern I suspect no change.

Jund doesn't even run a playset of Abrupt Decay. How can it possibly be the card to ban from it?

And don't you mean it is holding back blue-based tempo decks, not control decks? Draw-go control with something like Aetherling as a finisher would in no way be affected by Decay

And if you listen to parts of the player base they should have started with Theros, thats about the only starting point that some wouldnt have an issue with a card from a set/block.

Theros wasn't even out when Modern was first announced.

I just think Kamigawa as a whole added more banned cards then it added modern playables. So why even include it?

Rav 1.0 would have been an excellent starting point too since its the first set with the shocks. Almost like Alpha with the ABUR dual lands.

To be fair they could have started anywhere they wished and let the format grow over time.

By including Mirrodin, you already need to ban at least Cloudpost, Skullclamp and something from affinity.

Then in Kamigawa there was Jitte, Top, and Glimpse

I'm just saying they could have planned this a bit better to avoid a huge banned list

I feel like JTMS could get unbanned in Modern ONLY IF at least two of the following cards get unbanned:

    Bloodbraid Elf
    Wild Nacatl
    Seething Song
    Bitterblossom

He's good, but he's not invincible.

Unfortunately, they won't unban Seething Song as they do not like spell-based combo decks.
